Dwight went on national tv and pretty much said he quit on the Rockets because he didn't get enough touches. That alone deserves boo's from the crowd.

fair point but given how the season went and they continued losing and ending the season even without a winning record, that has to be frustrating because what they were doing was obviously not working.

This was happening regardless of Dwight's desire to stay in Houston. It's just as much a financial move as it is team move. He can't risk a crappy year and a worse/shorter contract after next season.

His camp is saying he'd like to return if we can add a few pieces

I've heard the same. I'm not an insider, but met one of his good friends right before the playoffs. I asked if he was for sure out, this person said "I won't tell you where he's going, but he ain't leaving..."

I hope that's true, because I don't see us getting two max players who can take us back to the WCF. I believe Howard is capable of putting up 18/10, which would be well worth it if we could get a max guy who plays well next to Harden.

I think Howard is going to come out strong next year, whether it's with the Rockets or elsewhere. I wouldn't pay him max, but I don't think most teams woudl either. I'd love to keep the big fella.

I agree with that. Perhaps this FA market is going to be a wakeup call for him. We're going to see a ton of players making way more than their value, and its likely going to be the opposite for Dwight, where he takes a cut.

At the same time, there are only two centers really getting post up possessions anymore while guys like Adams and Byombo are showing value by playing a role.

Maybe he sees these things and decides to buy in. If he is in the 15-20 mm a year range, why wouldn't we take that deal?

Didn't like Howard this last season. But he should NOT get boos. The choose to come here, to houston of all places. did a lot of work in the community. that alone should get him applause.

now if he goes to golden state, i'm not so sure..

We all could see this coming. Best to part ways and re-allocate resources.

He's formulating his responses so that he can twist whatever he comes up with into "I told you I was right".

Dwight opted out. He's now going to opt back in. Multiple sauces is right: Dwight is a waffler. ;):eek::)

Well, when you have a plan, and key component #2 to that plan is half-assing it, it's not surprising when it isn't working.

Is Dwight the culprit from the start of the season, or did he half-ass it from the get-go? Probably not... but that said, his defensive intensity seemed off pretty much from day 1.

Even with that... who cares if it was or wasn't working quite as expected. You don't quit from an effort perspective like that. I mean we all saw that Steph Curry offensive rebound out-muscling/whatever Dwight. That's embarrassing.

Plus, he's not a good teammate, as even players you thought would have good reviews of him would say. JJ Reddick hates him. Nelson has had problems with him. Nobody in LA liked him, etc.

Dwight isn't coming back to Houston. Especially with MikD. I won't boo Dwigt unless he signs with Golden State of course. But that's not happening either. I honestly hope he goes to Ny. He could have a good season in the East.

The dream scenario would be with Dwight being ok to play for the team and for a very cheap one year deal, but it's not happening...
