I just think we've seen what Dwight is all about. For him to come back would be just the same old status quo. It didn't work. Despite all the talk when he came in about winning a championship and doing what it takes, the team never really got close to being a bona fide contender. It was just a bunch of wishful thinking.

We will miss his presence down low. But, I doubt we miss it that much after an adjustment period.

agree. assuming hes wearing another jersey next year, booing him absolutely makes no sense to me. At the end of the day if you feel like its just best that both sides part ways that's fine but come on now. DH was an integral part in getting the Rockets to reach their deepest run in the playoffs to the WCF. Something they haven't seen in over a decade. At the time he was without a doubt a great pickup, and he helped provide an aura of championship aspirations. Something this city hasn't felt in how long. I lost track for quite some time. Its just unfortunate the teams peak was the WCF but they did lose to the hands of the eventual champs and what we now know is one of the better teams historically. Has he declined? Absolutely for various reasons and he can be an extremely frustrating player to follow. But I'm not going to let this last disappointing season which the team as a whole went through from top to bottom where everyone was at fault define everything that transpired before.

i feel like this "morey and brown reached out to try dwight to convince him to stay" story is disingenuous.

i mean, they hired mike dantoni. every interview about dantoni has been "we would welcome dwight back IF he plays the style we want to play. so many morey interviews have touted that they have the ability to get two max players, which assumes dwight doesnt come back. plus, they knew it rationally doesnt make sense for dwight to pick up his option.

im sure they had the conversations. but only because they knew he wouldnt pick up his option. this is about creating some sort of "dwight is the one choosing to leave, not us. we are loyal" optics. or that they wanted to trade him

Does he honestly think any other team is going to pay him in excess of $23 mill??????

I really don't want this guy back. Bye bye and see ya!!!

If Harden can't get back to his form two seasons ago, where he was committed and playing to his potential, I would like him gone too.

    Rockets needs fresh air

hes looking for a long term deal. its not just necessarily about just a $23 mil for one season.

JR this is incredible, did he post anything else? He's running a strong PR machine. No way in hell they wanted him to opt in.

Exactly, Howard is the player I want to keep in this team more than anyone else. With Howard gone, it would be really really hard for this team to pass first round in playoffs.

As fun as this is for Clutchfans, we now have a scary void at the C and PF positions as far as rim protection and rebounding. That has to be top priority this off-season.

Well...we had that void this year even with Dwight. Yeah he's still elite at rebounding, but his days as a rim protector look to be over from what we saw this year.

Lot of cap space to help shore up that area, and got to hope Capela develops in that area as well. I agree, top priority.

I don't want him back either but all the negative comments about dwight are ridiculous. This just a matter of it not being right circumstances for Dwight to come back but it's not as if he was god awful all 3 years and did nothing for this team. I can also certainly understand his frustrations.

You might have missed the "certified" qualifier in the statement. Nevertheless, I was not implying that the Rockets need to pay Howard the max. I seriously doubt that he would get that in the market anyway so that is out of the question. My point is that the rejoicing among many posters about his departure seems to miss the fact that Howard was a major factor why the Rockets even made it to the playoffs during his stint here. Stats or not his intimidating presence in the paint has changed many shots and offensive players respected his shot blocking. That may not reflect in this stat happy environment but indisputable.
