I think you're completely missing the point on Dwight. He wasn't giving his best for Houston. He didn't try hard because the team determined he wasn't dangerous on offense with his back to the basket. He pouted and didn't try. You don't ever want people like that on your team. You want a player that decides to be a professional and do whatever they can for the team. If you give everything and it's not what you were hoping it was, that's different. But that's not what happened. He gave less hoping it would result in more. Try doing that in any relationship. It equals fail. He's a bad fit next to Harden. No doubt. And this is why I read all your posts. They're real.
He was paid by Dwight's agent to post that. There's no ethics in journalism these days. It's all money, advertisements and showing what people what they want to hear. Calvin works for ESPN. Never forget.
Great now we get to see Clint get overwelmed at the starting center position smh. Morey you have some work to do because this team is gonna struggle to rebound and protect the rim next season without a competent big to start with Capella
22 mill isnt his max bro. He was worth it and the rockets arent in the lottery on Thursday so your understanding of how bad the rockets will struggle to rebound and protecting paint is lackng.
Capela started plenty without being overwHelmed. He played plenty without Dwight and played well. He's not our weakness. Center is not our weakness. Effort, turnovers and cohesiveness were our weaknesses. Not having Dwight will be a benefit. Chemistry > Dwight.
Rebounding is a team stat. It's a team effort. Dwight was not a team player. He is a great rebounder, but he never led us to anything. Orlando Dwight is gone. He didn't help the team get rebounds, he got rebounds for himself. I wish I understood how selfish he really was. Playing with Harden should have been a break, not a burden.
We need better defense we were a god awful defense with Howard. I would hope D'Antoni's offense can cut down on the turnovers and that should help some. We need some shooters not the brick layers we had on the court last year.
They (Rockets) didn't sign Howard just to avoid being a lottery team. He was supposed to be that second star player whom this team was supposedly being built around. He was brought here to help propel this team to an NBA title. He was clearly not that and due to his declining skills, poor attitude, lack of leadership and desire, his public admission that he checked out on the team last season, he's simply not worth his "max" of $29M. The Rockets should be able to find rebounding and paint protection for a lot less money and aggravation.
I dont think so. Howard staying would have been good for the Rockets, whether we moved him in a trade or kept him, it would have been good. There is only one scenario where Howard walks ends up being good for us, and that's a scenario where we sign two max players, which I think is pretty unlikely.
I think it's highly unlikely that we don't sign at least one max player now. Let's just hope it's the right max player.
Surely you meant the opposite? How would it have been good for the Rockets for Howard to stay? He was outproduced by Capela last season - Capela will only be better, Howard only worse. There is $20million wasted on talent in positions we need it....
I don't care about anything else Dwight the basketball player is no longer the basketball player he was, and his decline was obvious last season. Even his rebounding and defense became much worse than what it was. His offense is now just a liability other than put backs and dunks, even then he is missing them. With him demanding more touches on offense?!??! There's no way we should be handicapping ourselves on him. he doesn't contribute as a max player anymore, we are not in win now mode. He is better off chasing a ring being the 4-5th option on a stacked team like golden state and play a Bogut role.
Conley, Horford, Whiteside. Dirk might want to play for a championship. He knows how well his old buddy Nash did with D'Antoni. I think this has zero percent chance of working but LeBron will need a contract. DeMar Derozan, Drummond, Beal, Batum, Ryan Anderson. They all would be good. Marvin Williams won't get max, but he's a difference maker. There are tons of options and they will likely all improve this team. That 45 million in cap space will be big for us.
Sure it does. They wanted to hopefully trade him and get something in return. Now they lose him for nothing. Of course they wanted him to opt in.
The trade value of Dwight (who clearly doesn't want to be here) vs the cap space is a significantly better option. We can get players who want to be here. That's much better than trading a player who has done nothing but decrease his trade value. We're in a great spot right now.
