Not a million a month in total spending. A million dollars spent just for use of his own assets. I'm sure we'll learn more about this soon. But as SaFe pointed out, "In-Kind Contributions" are not rare. However, Hillary has $250k total for a full year. Trump has >$1mm per month. It's rather unusual. Given Trump's long history of "re-allocating" assets (just before bankruptcy), this deserves further scrutiny.
...personally, I was always of the mindset that this whole "campaign" by The Donald was just another way or him to grift. ...with all the talk about finances in government election campaigns...and the dollar amounts bandied about like Sunday service church collection plates...it had to be hard for a lifelong shyster like Trump to keep his hands out of that pot. ...and under what better cover than appealing to a section of people who, even in their own unknowing influence, could sway the pendulum enough to get Donald himself into the coffers of national campaign finance... ...used to call a move like that, where I grew up...the 'okie-doke'... ...or maybe more commonly, "three-card-monty" or the shell game... ...The Donald's mastered "...the art of the deal..." in more ways than one, I think....
This really isn't a big deal so far as I can tell. He's holding events and needs to pay rent for those events. And the article says at least some of those expenses accrued over several months. If he didn't pay $1m to Trump companies, he'd pay them to someone else. He's probably paying full fare instead of negotiating the best price, but I'd have to see more to think it was in some way crooked. If you want to do a comparison, find out how much Hillary paid for rentals, catering, and airfare in May.
He is profiting off of money given to him by donors. If he was self financed he has every right to do what he wants, but we all know that was a bunch of hoopla. The fact of the matter is, is that he is using a political campaign and money from people contributing to a political cause to add to his profit. Intentional or unintentional. Your justification is basically the same logic corrupt politicians use.
Yeah but is that really surprising? People know Trump is a con man, of course he's doing this for personal profit.
For you, me and every rational person out there of course not. But we are dealing with a time where Trump's own direct quote was being debated for 3 pages if you just scroll back. A large portion of the american population is uninformed, idiotic, and borderline stupidly dangerous.
Some people know he's a con man. A (shrinking) percentage of Americans are still denying it. The cries of "out of context!" and "media twisting his words" are still flying, though less and less thankfully.
Yeah but is that really surprising? People know Hillary is a con WOman, of course she is doing this for personal profit.
No. Doesn't really work. Sure Hillary is a corrupt career politician who is seeking personal power of office, but that's not the same. It's con man vs corrupt career politician.
Trump University, Trump Steaks, no tax returns, 20% of his campaign money going to his own businesses. How dense can some people be?
I hate twitter and Mark cuban, so it is difficult for me to do this but... <blockquote class="twitter-tweet" data-lang="en"><p lang="en" dir="ltr">If <a href="https://twitter.com/realDonaldTrump">@realDonaldTrump</a> were fractionally as rich as he says he is,he would write a$200mm check to propel his campaign. He doesn't have the cash</p>— Mark Cuban (@mcuban) <a href="https://twitter.com/mcuban/status/745281687714619392">June 21, 2016</a></blockquote> <script async src="//platform.twitter.com/widgets.js" charset="utf-8"></script>
It's sort of how someone starts a charity to help poor school children get back packs. The charity collects money and then buys the back packs from a back pack company that they already own. It should be illegal to spend contribution money with your own businesses in that manner. It's con man behavior.
If @realDonaldTrump were fractionally as rich as he says he is OR he weren't trolling the american people ...
Read my sig... is political ambition in any way more virtuous than financial ambition? Don't try to tell me that Hillary is a better person than Trump because all she has done is lie to the American people to advance herself politically. IMO it is exactly the same if not worse because her position as a politician SHOULD mean that she is held to a higher standard. in the US career politician == con man
I'm not saying one is better than the other, but they are different. The bigger difference is that we pretty much know what Hillary is. When it comes to Trump, he's got some people convinced he's not the same liberal he was the rest of his life. IMO that's more dangerous. That said, Trump couldn't be making a better case that the Republicans should refuse him the nomination and run literally anyone else in order to have a better chance to win.
The Repubs simply can't run Trump out there anymore. I'll allow them to nominate Chico and have my other dog Augie be the VP. My dogs would probably get more votes than Trump. Chico is very strong on immigration and hates any dog or person coming near the fence. Augie is more laid back, but he is very aggressive against deer (aka Jihadis) in the neighborhood.
Trump IS a politician, by any definition. He running for freaking president. He must be held to the exact same standards. As such, Hillary is easily a better person than Trump. If you want to compare Hilary to Trump, just realize that anything that Hilary does, Trump does is x10 worse. In this context... Hilary had "in-kind contributions" in the amount of 250k over 12 months. Trump had "in-kind contributions" in the amount of 10million over 1 month. Here's another... Hilary is a self promoting wench and only out for votes. Donald writes is name on every thing he owns. Anything you accuse Hillary of doesn't simply only apply to Trump, Trump outdoes Hilary by several orders of magnitude! It's not close. I get why people don't like Hilary ...but there is simply no comparison between the two. I don't like okra because it's kinda slimy but at the end of the day it is still food and is nutritious. (Clinton) However, voting for Trump is like eating ****. It probably will make you sick if it doesn't kill you.
I'm not delusional... anyone that thinks Trump is somehow different from Hillary in his willingness to do anything to anyone to get what he wants is delusional. FYI Hillary has been getting paid off for decades...
I don't know that he's even a liberal. I think he's just a nut who doesn't really think through policy positions so he spouts off easy talking points without really thinking through the nuance. In the past that led him down liberal positions, but on immigration and national security it has led him down roads that make a certain type of right winger happy. In terms of truly held beliefs though I think he just believes in strongman type, totalitarian power. The person in charge should do whatever they want that they think works, without regard for laws, morals, the Constitution, etc. You look at the people he considers "strong" in the world and he points to dictators and horrible regimes. He considers Western countries to be weak and wants to abandon them.
