He's making them pay for mistakes at least.

 

I'm really digging these Columbia Blue uniforms. If the Texans can't get that as an alternate, maybe the Astros can apply for that in the offseason.

 

This is the 2nd time I've said this in a week and I'm pretty sure more than that in the season. Marwin is the dumbest base runner I've ever seen. His brain goes out the window when he gets on base.

One question, if we are unable to re sign Castro, should Gattis be our number 1 catcher and we just look for a backup???

Gomez isn't very good either. I excuse Altuve to an extent because he's so fast that it's usually a decent shot at whatever it is he's trying to do. Plus he's awesome. Marwin is so slow that it's even more frustrating watching him helplessly navigate the base paths.

 

But Jeff and Ken could have helped him plenty while he was here.

I'm just gonna post this one time, because I'm sick of hearing how terrible the Astros baserunning is, and how we are easily the worst team in the league.

There 21 teams that have been thrown out on the bases more than us (that doesn't count caught stealing). League average is 23, we have been thrown out 20. The Rangers have been thrown out 35 times on the bases. We are 2nd in steals, and 6th in SB%. And we are 9th in extra base taken %.

Let's not let facts get in the way of everybody's opinion though. We make some mistakes, and nobody ever makes a mistake, so we must be the worst in baseball at it.

I love Jose, but he is an idiot on the bases. His speed makes him a great base stealer, but normal base running he is really bad

 

Being thrown out on bases is one thing, bone headed base running is something totally different. You got a stat for that?

 

The bulk of that was an awful April. I don't blame Marwin, he's thinking score and Altuve's at least getting three. Credit Hamilton for an amazing catch.
