You know nothing about me, and I am wrong sometimes - and right sometimes. Calling me black and white coming from you is really funny. Yes, I tell it like it is - sometimes far too often......and yes, I get emotional about the team - that is what a fan does...or at least what this fan does. Now, I have to go find my pacifier....I know I left it here somewhere. DD
DD is by far the most annoying poster on Clutchfans. Always b****ing and negative. While it may be a long shot, I hope Durant shocks the NBA and reunites with Harden. We do have quite a bit of cap space available to bring in players that Durant and Harden want to play with. He's long time friends with Beasley and obviously has ties to Harden who is better than WB as an all around player. Houston is never the top choice for some reason but there's several reason to believe we still have a chance including what I've already stated and the lack of state tax in Texas.
Its not about being negative, its basically the most probable outcome when it comes to his free agency. The safest route for durant is to return to the team who were one win away from going to the NBA finals on a 2 year max deal with a player option. That is the most likely thing to happen, it gives him the best chance to win a championship next year, because they already have the chemistry on the court and that team really outplayed golden state in that series (klay saved them in game 6) and gives him the most money. But if we know one thing its that durant might not do what everyone thinks, he is an outside the box thinker and i think he loves texas couple that with having harden and beasley here he might give us serious consideration. but it is by far not the likely thing to happen. All we can do is hope he see we arent a 500 team like we showed last year because chemistry issues and dwights immaturity to except his role led to that bull**** record. And that harden has more sway then we think
The point is, posting "LOL Durant is never coming here." doesn't add anything to the discussion. Negative or postivite, bring something to the table. There are many (arguablely valid) reasons why someone would choose to hold out hope that he would come here, just as there are many reasons why he would stay or wouldn't come.
Durant will probably grant them an interview, but It is hard envision him coming to Houston now that they hired D'Antoni. There probably would have been a better chance if there was some fresh blood hired as the coach, with the ability to achieve a new identity to today's NBA, rather than copying protocol, and following what other team do and think is the future of the NBA at the moment.
If they have hope of signing Durant (and I said "hope", whether it's warranted), then they wouldn't have signed a coach who would ensure he doesn't sign here. Now, if they know he isn't coming here so, f*** it, go ahead and hire D'Antoni....
Quit the bashing of a legitimate Rockets fan in DD who is not drinking the Kool Aid on this one. He wants what the rest of us want and that is not to be sitting on the sidelines watching other teams play in the Finals for over the past 20+ years. Wake up and quit being fanboys and loving whatever Morey and company has been doing because guess what....we have not been successful and are being mocked throughout the NBA for the circus act that we have sadly become.
Just a reminder, this whole thread only exists because of this guy drunk tweeting Mavs propaganda. <blockquote class="twitter-tweet" data-lang="en"><p lang="en" dir="ltr">Happy Birthday AND Happy Father's Day to a 38-year-old who goes by the Twitter handle of <a href="https://twitter.com/swish41">@swish41</a>. <a href="https://twitter.com/hashtag/theygrowuptoofast?src=hash">#theygrowuptoofast</a></p>— Marc Stein (@ESPNSteinLine) <a href="https://twitter.com/ESPNSteinLine/status/744410277110644737">June 19, 2016</a></blockquote> <script async src="//platform.twitter.com/widgets.js" charset="utf-8"></script>
You and I agree about aspiring for more than WCF. The issue is that, just like you like to think "fanboys" can see no wrong with the teams, curmudgeons never want to see the positive. The problem is you're wrong when you say we have not been successful.
The argument "wasting time going after Durant" is just ridiculous, every team with at least a slim chance will go after Durant, obviously teams with zero chance like Nets, Jazz will not lose time but yeah...some posters here are basically saying that the Rockets are idiots losing time trying to sign him when every team is going to do the same (and rightfully so). And i also really don't understand the b****ing about this process, what's your idea? Leaving the best player to others teams just to go after worse players that are going to get paid the same, without any guarantee they're going to sign with you? It's not like if you go after Batum first you have a good chance to sign him, in fact, as today, i'd say we have more chances with Durant than with Batum.
I'd much rather have Batum, Horford and Teague than waste all of free agency on Durant who is not coming here. Good thing is the Rockets should already know based on him partying with Harden a week ago.
Yea, again, there is no such thing "wasting all of free agency." Do you understand how free agency works? There is plenty of time to meet with anyone you want.
Harden is good friends with Durant (as we all know). I'm sure they've discussed the possibility of him coming to the Rockets. If Durant wants to go in a different direction (or stay put) I'm sure he'll convey this to Harden. The Rockets won't be wasting their time going after him. If he's open to listening to them he'll do so, and if not they'll go in a different direction. When the gun sounds to start FA the Rockets will already know where Durant's mind is per his friend Harden. I would also think that Harden knows more about this then Stein.
