time for him to be promoted to AAA. Matter of fact its time for several promotions. Paulino has nothing to prove in AA ball.
There is zero chance they bring up The top 1B prospect in baseball to platoon In fact Luhnow has already said exactly that
You bring players and give OPPORTUNITY to succeed, if that means playing vs righties, which are the MAJORITY of starters, so be it. We want to win NOW, right?
I'm living in reality man, not mambi pambi land Luhnow has said Reed won't come up and platoon So you can drive yourself crazy b****ing about it if you want But when Reed comes up it will be to play everyday And no, a majority of MLB starters dont platoon, not even close. But I'm sure you will ignore facts just like in today's game thread
yep. musgrove martes paulino abreu perez hoyt (if you consider him a prospect at age 29) mccurry whitley when he signs and develops.
Yup. Tremendous right handed pitching depth. Guys who will be on most Top 100 lists: Whitley Musgrove Paulino Martes Guys who would fit in most teams Top 20 prospects: Abreu Perez Rodgers Hoyt Ferrell Armenteros Guys who would be on most teams Top 30: Sneed McCurry Gustave Guduan Holmes Yuhl Emanuel West Heredia Dykxhoorn Thornton James E. Hernandez J. Hernandez Adcock Other interesting prospects: Bostick Sierra Smith McCanna Radziewski Quiala
Daz Cameron is off to a good start at Tri Cities. 3-6, with 3 BB's and 2 2B's. He also had a big game the exhibition opener. After looking completely overwhelmed at QC, it would be really nice to see him perform strongly. Hopefully even good enough to get back to QC, still a lot of season left.
If we get Whitley signed, where do yall think he slots in on our prospect list. Top 5? Top 10? Any chance he is a top 100 overall guy?
I think Whitley will be on the back end of most top 100 lists. He will easily be in the top 10 Astros prospects, likely top 5. Personally I think he will be the next pitching prospect in the system and 3rd best overall behind Bregman and Tucker.
Reed can come up and play everyday but he can platoon between the 1b and DH spots. Honestly, having him go through the grind of playing first every day will only exacerbate the rookie wall. He can start at first versus right handers and then split DH duties against left handers getting the nod when Gattis catches. The only time he wouldn't be in the everyday lineup would be a quirky 3 game set like this where you face 3 left handed starters in a row. That's pretty rare and I don't know of many rotations that throw 3 of them like that in a row. Just because he's "platooning", doesn't mean he wouldn't get regular at bats. Heck we have two young outfielders in Kemp and Marisnick who already ride the pine. Neither might be a prospect of Reeds caliber but sitting on the bench every day doesn't exactly help them get better either. If the Astros are serious about winning this year, they need to jumpstart the offense. The best hope for today and going forward is getting Bregman and Reed to the big league team. If they contribute, then it stops Luhnow from making another trade to get a hitter and his trade acquisitions leave something to be desired not to mention will further deplete the prospect depth.
i would place him after paulino for the time being bregman reed martes tucker paulino whitley daz musgrove fisher perez would be my top 10.
depends on which list you look at. when they do their mid season rankings i dont think he will be on callis/mayo's top 100 list on mlb.com. i see 7 sure guys from this year's draft that will be on their top 100 list groome, moniak, pint, kyle lewis, pulk, corey ray and stenzel.
It's just his typical word vomit He wants Hoyt up here so that when Hoyt isn't pitching in the 7th/8th inning immediately, in tight games, he can say Hinch is horrible for not developing him into a late inning high leverage guy. Of course he also wants Harris, Feliz, Gregerson and Devenski to work those late inning situations, so Hoyt would make 5 guys leaving him plenty of room to word vomit against Hinch no matter what he does Hinch isn't a good game manager, but the hatred this guy has for him has no boundries
