Good! White has a chance to be a very good MLB hitter, but needs to go down and play everyday right now
When the "professional hitter" stops hitting, gotta go. Spoiler Oh, it started so well! You were hitting, people were giving you nicknames, they were going to games in shark costumes, then it all came crashing back down to earth. <blockquote class="twitter-tweet" data-lang="en"><p lang="en" dir="ltr">Astros rookie Tyler White earned AL Player of the Week honors after going 10-for-18, 3 HR, 9 RBI in first 6 games <a href="https://t.co/8UCeBHBI2O">pic.twitter.com/8UCeBHBI2O</a></p>— ESPN Stats & Info (@ESPNStatsInfo) <a href="https://twitter.com/ESPNStatsInfo/status/719629159039967232">April 11, 2016</a></blockquote> <script async src="//platform.twitter.com/widgets.js" charset="utf-8"></script> <blockquote class="twitter-tweet" data-lang="en"><p lang="en" dir="ltr">Congratulations to <a href="https://twitter.com/twhite409">@twhite409</a> on being named American League Player of the Week! <a href="https://twitter.com/hashtag/TheGreatWhite?src=hash">#TheGreatWhite</a> <a href="https://t.co/7RzZf0AYYt">pic.twitter.com/7RzZf0AYYt</a></p>— Houston Astros (@astros) <a href="https://twitter.com/astros/status/719581633976889344">April 11, 2016</a></blockquote> <script async src="//platform.twitter.com/widgets.js" charset="utf-8"></script> <blockquote class="twitter-tweet" data-lang="en"><p lang="en" dir="ltr">Tyler White since April 15: <br>.163/.246/.301</p>— Thickie Don (@AstrosCounty) <a href="https://twitter.com/AstrosCounty/status/740887120143736833">June 9, 2016</a></blockquote> <script async src="//platform.twitter.com/widgets.js" charset="utf-8"></script>
When they showed other Astros rookies that had similar hot starts to White (unknown guys like Josh Anderson, J.R. Towels, James Mouton...), I gotta admit I had my concerns. White can be a productive hitter... but he has some serious things to work on.
So who's car will they put in CF for target practice now? Carlos drilled that thing, White got mad bro.
And he just looked totally lost up there lately Wonder if hitting all the HR's early had a negative affect. I know that sounds dumb, but he came in not known as a big power guy, but a guy who would make good contact and have a good approach. Then the year starts and it's bomb bomb bomb....maybe he started thinking "man I could hit 25 HRs" and changed approach some As for Luke being back, this is really the first time since he was demoted that the entire pen is plenty rested and ready to go. Will be interesting to see how Hinch uses them without having to worry about who is available and who isn't Of course would be better to have a 6 run lead late and not have to worry about it
Yea if he could just hit .280 with some walks, doubles and a few dingers he could help this lineup a bunch Hope we see him again later in the year with a better approach
