If harden can become an aggressive player and triple double machine like westbrook while have a REAL bench with shot creators like Waiters WHILE getting a 2 bigs that present mismatches and rebound aggressively WHILE getting a defensive specialist with a average 3pt shot in the starting lineup, The rockets will have a chance to face GSW in western finals

You will need underpay people to make that roster happen and the bench will be horrible.

****s always black or white on here. Going to the Spurs could conceivably be the better choice but that doesn't necessarily mean that choosing the rockets is "insane"

It would be. I think we've established ourselves as a totally dysfunctional team in the NBA. We've proven that we treat players purely as assets (aside from Harden) and anybody is expendable at any time. Free agents we've let go that have become good had opportunities to come back and didn't. It's time we blow the team up and build through the draft.

Oh like how Cuban prioritized chemistry?

No it works maxing both Whiteside ans Durant, no pay cuts, actually has 2 mill left over cap space..

The bench would also be solid with some ring chasing vet mins. From the depth I posted alone, PG to PF is basically completely covered. Durant would play both forward positions, Ariza SF and SG and we could go small with a Bev/Teague combo at the backup SG as well.

Add some ring chasing gets, which this team would certainly attract, and a backup C with the room exception and that team would be set.

The guy who has kept the same coach with no waver and always brings in vets for his locker room and bench? Don't know if he values chemistry or not, but those two things will help with any team's chemistry.

Aside from the coach, what else do they got?

It was time to do that YEARS ago, but Les will NEVER go down that path....And, presently..with James on board....that's not the move.

Aside from having Durant's buddy, no other team can offer two max slots on top of having a top ten player.

Bs. Every team treats players like assets, it's the nba, it goes this way.

When Howard decided to sign with us, the Warriors were looking to ship Bogut to make room for him...the Celtics traded Pierce like he was another player for them...

You don't leave a team that was in the WC finals and had the champs down 3-1 to take less money to go to a team that went 41-41 and has chemistry and org problems.

You do if don't think WB will stick around after next year or that WB is someone you can ultimately win with.

Less money in a contract, but more money in advertising contracts due to our China market.

Dwight is most likely leaving this offseason so I'm not sure what chemistry and organization problems we have left over.

We were in the wcfs last year as well. Who's to say OKC won't go 41-41 last year or they don't or won't have chemistry problems

For durant the question is simple:

Who can he be paired with can win a ring: harden or WB

Not very insane for him to pick players MVP harden considering he was there the only time OKC went to the finals and they never did

And yes he and WB were in the wcfs last year but harden too mostly by himself last year

The Rockets minus Howard plus Durant and an additional max FA is a better team than the Thunder are as currently constructed. Really that's what matters. On top of that, the Thunder have one more year together before they break up when Westbrook heads out, so why not go to a better team this season rather than wasting another year on a team that by now he has to know won't be good enough.

Sorry, you're wrong. Harden, Durant, and an additional max guy is better than Westbrook and Durant which is all the Thunder are now.

In a Disney movie perhaps but this is the real world. So far NO one has shown any justification for why Durant would take a step back by coming to a team that just made a questionable (and I'm really being nice here) choice of head coach - a team that is about to undergo a retooling effort of undetermined length in order to get the players needed to execute said coach's basketball philosophies (offense: Yea! defense: Meh!) and a team that's currently in disarray. Just what about this would appear attractive to anyone who's looking to win a title?
