Either out of ignorance, because people who want to ban guns generally didn't grow up around them, or because they believe it's something they can use to scare the public to support as a first step in an incremental effort to ban all guns, or because they sincerely believe they are making a reasonable concession to what they think is the majority of firearms owners.
The 94 ban and the California ban was mostly about appearance -- it was as if someone had made a list while watching 80s action movies.

 

Part of why it's so hard to take them seriously IMO. Also the fact that there are asshats out there like Gersh Kuntzman writing articles about how he got PTSD from firing an AR-15 at a gun range and how the recoil gave him bruises....when people like that are the voices of the anti-gun groups, how do you ever take them seriously?

 

I bet if the founding fathers know what kind of weapons we have today, they would have wrote the second amendment differently. What is bear arms? When laser and other types of particle weapons are created in the future, should everyone be able to have them?

 

Yes as long as the second amendment is still standing i say yes.

 

The Founding Fathers couldn't even decide on whether to pull their cash to pay for the Constitutional dinner or two get separate checks.

They wrote it like **** so the other Founding Fathers could read into it what they wanted between porking their slave lasses or keeping a high cost French w**** satisfied.

 

I think the Constitution would have looked a bit different if Thomas Paine was at the convention.
