Well, if FIFA isn't going to strip Qatar of the World Cup after many obvious reasons why they should, what makes you think they're going to change their idiotic and clearly incorrect ranking system?
They are getting paid a lot to do this Qatar travesty. I don't see any financial benefit in a weird system that puts Belgium at #1 and Austria in the top 10.
This was the first big surprise in the tournament for me. Austria should have won this talent-wise. Props to Hungary.
This Iceland team is FUN. No backing down. Can't believe how close they were to a second goal a few minutes ago.
End of the game, he just walks off. No shaking hands with opponents or teammates, not going to the fans to applaud their support. What an egocentric douchebag. Iceland fans on the other hand are awesome. They will have more reason to celebrate, I think they will beat either Hungary or Austria and make it to the next round.
Not sold on Conte. Insists on a 3-5-2 formation, although it was proved time and time again that it doesn't work against high level competition. During his 3 year tenure at Juve, they never made a significant result in CL because of his unwillingness to adapt. On the other hand, his successor, Max Allegri, is a brilliant tactician and the results were immediate. Also, his time with Italy so far is nothing worth mentioning, they barely scraped their way through the Euro qualifying stage (two 1-0 wins against Malta, two comeback wins against Azerbaijan). He's still fitting players in that 3-5-2 formation, so he's been making some very baffling call-ups. They had freaking Parolo, Giaccherini and Eder start yesterday, and those guys shouldn't be anywhere near the national team. He's been ignoring players like Berardi, Bonaventura, Jorginho, Giovinco, Soriano, De Silvestri, Criscito and I guarantee you could make a better team out of those players than the ones Italy has recently been putting on the pitch. I stumbled upon this fun stat: 8.15% of Icelanders are now in France or on the way. 26,985 citizens applied for tickets.
Iceland getting the draw was huge for their chances to advance. I think their group, along with Italy's group have the best chances of producing a third team for advancement. I wish Iceland would have netted that second goal, but I think most of their fans would take a draw with Portugal to open the competition.
He is easy to dislike because he is obnoxious and bratty but you take it too far calling him a poser. He is a brilliant once in a generation talent and player. Power implies a fake star. He is not. He is just a b****. Great job by Iceland. I am really happy for Gylfi Sigurdsson - one of my favorite players to watch. But Aronson played an amazing (better) game in the back. Makes me want to drink some Einstök.
Ronaldo is a huge c***, glad they didn't win: Portugal star Cristiano Ronaldo hit out at Iceland's lack of ambition after the two sides drew 1-1 at Euro 2016. The Real Madrid star also refused to shake the hands of the Iceland players after the group match in Saint-Etienne. "I thought they'd won the Euros the way they celebrated at the end," he said. "It was unbelievable. We tried hard to win the game and Iceland didn't try anything. This, in my opinion, shows a small mentality and they are not going to do anything in the competition." Ronaldo, making his 127th appearance for Portugal, said it had been a "lucky night" for his opponents and accused them of putting "the bus in the net". "Portugal try to play football and try to win the game," said Ronaldo. "Iceland didn't try anything. They were just defend, defend, defend and playing on the counter-attack." http://www.bbc.com/sport/football/36535204 <iframe width="420" height="315" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/1AG2NYpREuc" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe>
With the shirt swap he's saying "Inside, Inside" so am guessing he is going to go through with it? Not sure how the video shows he's a douche. However, I do agree he's a bit of a douche overall.
Russia seems to be the worst team of the Euro, Putin will slap the team into pieces and bring in 11 foreign players for the 2018 WC.
Ronaldo may be a douche on the pitch but off the pitch he is an extremely classy, charitable, and selfless individual. Yeah he might be egotistical but all around he's a much better person than Lionel Messi.
