So many people complaining and all I think when I watch is "Damn this is good". I'll chalk it up to that fact that this thread is on Clutchfans. It just goes with the territory here.
HBO probably had to hedge a lot of their budget to SFX. More and more budget has to be dedicated to the dragons as their plot importance almost demands it. We've already seen direwolves die unceremoniously, and I fear, as in I guess, that Wun wun is bound to be a budget casualty too. The sfx dragons are getting bigger, the level of detail has grown more each season, and they're gonna have to interact with human characters more often. Remember how bad it looked when they had Dany ride Drogon at the end of the Harpy episode? It's improved so much since then. The fighting probably has taken a bigger chunk of the budget too. The blackwater episode pretty much showed one shortened skirmish, followed by Tywin saying they won. Compare that with Hardhome, or the battle at Castle Black, which they still had to truncate (Grenn), but also included that awesome rotating Avengers style continuous shot.
The first 5 episodes of the season were all epic, particularly "The Door" which would have been the grand finally in some seasons. I'm guessing the next 2 episodes are going to be massive with the "Battle of the Bastards" and then the rumors has it that the last episode of the season is going to run quite long.
Guys, even I complained that EP8 was kinda meh but we still got EP9 and 10 which are rumored to be huge. Patience is a virtue
Usually, I'm one getting criticism for being negative. The episode was good. The fact that they did it again convinces me that there will be some plot development coming from it, and it's not just a bit of bad 'color.' Lol.
Seems to me that Edmure will be marching north with the Tully forces from Riverrun. Jaimie's (offscreen) offer to Edmure was not really to go to Casterly Rock (why would he do that? Not a realistic destination), but instead he told Edmure what Brienne told him - that Sansa desperately needed help from the Tullys. All Jaimie wanted was the Blackfish himself to he could appease Walder Frey. The fact that the Blackfish died didn't phase Jaimie because he could still send his head to Frey. In exchange for this, Jaimie would allow Edmure and all the Tullys to leave and march north - WITH their arms (because 'lay down your arms' means to 'surrender the castle', it doesn't mean they can't be retrieved as they leave the castle under flag of truce. This force, plus Littlefinger arriving late to save everyone in the nick of time - IF Spoiler IF Sansa agrees to marry him (my guess), and she does in order to successfully destroy the Boltons (again my guess) , saves the day, and allows focus to realign north toward Castle Black again, as the White Walkers close in. I know Theon and his sister don't have enough ships for all Dany's forces, so it was nice of the 'Masters' to bring enough to make up the difference. So the dragons can't destroy that fleet, and Dany knows it. My guess is Theon and his sister show up and decimate the Masters' forces from the rear, and most of the ships are taken intact, allowing Dany enough ships and resources to leave immediately with all her forces. Probably the season finale will be a shot of her and the Dothraki Horde landing in Westeros. There is still a lot left up in the air with Bran, and what his new powers will end up doing or causing, plus we still need to see Jon's true heritage displayed in another of Bran's time/space jaunts. As for Cersei's rumor - I am hoping it is something more to do directly with the High Sparrow, rather than wildfire - because how were a bunch of little kids supposed to find or even know what wildfire was? I am hoping it's something along the lines of the High Sparrow being discovered as a buggerer of little boys, something like that (which would go along with GRRM's analogy of the rise of the Catholic Church's power and corruption), which she can then use to her advantage either before or during her trial. This could also be a way to get Loras off the hook as well. Hehehehe anyone think with all these people being dredged up from the past, that we will finally see the return of Gendry?
The Tyrion stuff was lame both times they did it. I don't think they know what to do with his character right now. Hopefully they get out of there soon and his role is expanded. I don't know why so many assume the waif also had blind training. It was never implied and explicitly shown as a punishment for Arya. There's no reason to believe the Waif also experienced it. In this case, it is a HUGE advantage for Arya and certainly not unbelievable that she wins. Love the Hound. Hopefully him and Arya meet up again, not sure what her thoughts would be at that point.
Let's hope so. Now that Dany is back, and the Iron Born and Dothraki are en route, I'm guessing the Slave Owners' attack on Mereen won't go so well. Although I don't know why she sent the dragon away while her (temporary) home is being attacked.
Except there was a scene of the Tully arming throwing their weapons into a massive pile and walking away. I think people are likely to be disappointed if they think Edmure is going to lead an army north.
That does not imply that once the Lannisters took the castle, and Edmure had time to explain his plan, that the Lannisters wouldn't simply relocate the weapons outside the castle, and then allow the Tullys to retrieve them on their way out of Dodge. It's not hard to imagine that being the case. And maybe they go back to the Eyrie first. Doesn't matter though, either way they will still ultimately end up at Winterfell, one way or the other.
Greyworm is a soldier trained from birth... he isn't going to be making jokes left and right. His coldness was beaten into him.
And I'm going to assume the same for Messandi, I don't think slaves would be allowed to have big personalities in this world....
I liked the tyrion dialogue scenes.... there's enough carnage, action, end-of-world scenarios, royal-decree-proclamation stuff to go around. Its nice to have well-acted scenes that try to add some levity/humor to an otherwise intense show.
He's following in the footsteps of his father, rowing from town to town and creating bastards at every stop.
Just because why not, here's the full House Targaryen family tree: (Linked and spoilered because it's massive) https://cdn2.vox-cdn.com/uploads/ch...en_complete_family_tree_by_poly_m-da5q943.jpg Spoiler
