The advanced metrics that say Joey Dorsey would average a double double is not something I will ever acknowledge as a fact.
1) which metric is that? 2) Nothing says that he "would" do anything. The number is based on what he DID do. If you don't want to acknowledge reality that's fine. With respect to Dorsey he was a pretty good rebounder and a decent defender, just pretty terrible at most other things. Not sure why we are discussing this.
Anyone that would pick Klay over Harden is someone that shouldn't be allowed to have an opinion when it comes to NBA player evaluation. Sadly, I'm pretty sure there are several here that fit that description.
Klay's D 10 times better than Harden Harden ability to finish at rim 5 times better Overall, I would take Klay because he's able to generate offense and play a high level of D. Harden is capable on D but doesn't do it consistently.
It was just an example. the point being his numbers say he would average double digit rebounds given the extended minutes. he wouldn't because he can't even stay on the floor that long before either fouling out or just being a complete liability and even when he did get some extended minutes he still didn't even come close to the numbers. There's just things those metrics can't take into account. You can probably count the number of times he grabbed double digit rebounds on 1 hand when he was here.
Yes, he only had double digit rebounds 4 times when he was here.....but the fewest rebounds he ever had with the Rockets when he got at least 30 minutes of play time was 9. When he got the play time, he got the boards. Of course there's more to basketball than rebounding, and rebounding was just about the only thing he did well, but he was a very good rebounder
Again that's not what the numbers says. It says that if you take Joey Dorsey's rebounding numbers and multiplied them by a certain number, they woudl be greater than 10...what part of this do you dispute? If Joey Dorsey grabs 6 rebounds, please tell me how if you multiply 6 by 2 it wouldn't be > 10 ? It just is, regardless of whether or not you feel that number is actually achievable because it's not representing itself as being such. Like all things that vary with usage, if Joey Dorsey played 2x as much, maybe he woudl get over 10 rebounds, or mabye not. Maybe he would get tired, or maybe he had beastly endurance that would get him 20 rebounds. Since these things never happened, we just have to guess. Joey Dorsey was a more-than-competent rebounder for the amount of time he was on the floor. That's how he has managed to make his living as a professional basketball players. This is reflected in the numbers he posted - and because you don't like Joey Dorsey, that doesn't make those numbers inherently fraudulent. Well at least you're right about something - he had 4 games with 10+ rebounds in 2014/15, playing 16, 32, 22 and 17 minutes in each one. He had 5 of them with Toronto in 2011 including a 10 point 20 rebound game - peak Dorsey.
Anyone who predicted that the Warriors would finish 6th in the West this season should not be allowed to have an opinion on the NBA. Oh wait that was you.
LOL I don't mind your trolling, I just wish you were a better poster. You are correct, I failed to predict that the league would make every Warriors game 8 on 5 and allow them to get away with fouls on both sides of the ball while calling the games tight against the other team. Take your victory lap I guess.
respectable post Sam. To be clear, this isn't something I'm saying that is clear right or wrong. I said previously I acknowledged advanced metrics as a tool, it's just not something I will only use to draw simple conclusions from as a true fact. Is Dorsey capable of double digit rebounds in a game? Yes of course. But that doesn't mean hes capable of consistently maintaining that over the course of a year from game to game.
That's exactly what it is.. A Tool.... Too many times it's been counted on as something more than that.. You can't use analytics and metrics to put an entire team together, Morey has learned that the hard way. A staff can use these tools to help with their player evaluation, but that is about it. T_Man
Would Joey Dorsey average over 10 rebounds a game if he averaged over 30 minutes played a game? Yes, yes he would. Based on his overall game, would you want Joey Dorsey to average over 30 minutes played a game? No, no you would not.
Klay could not carry a team by himself...like Harden does. A 3 point shooter cannot carry a team. Klay doesnt get to the line and he doesnt command a double team like Harden.
why do people make statements like this and use it as a fault to try and criticize a player. Atleast use some better logic. Klay is not some standstill 3 pt shooter. He has continued to add dimensions to his offense and has done a solid job of adding it into the mixture over the course of the game Klay could drop 40 in any given game just like Harden. Just because he can do it by shooting lights out from the perimeter with a hand in his face or not shouldn't be used as some defense that makes him some lesser of a player. Ok klay doesn't get to the line as much as Harden, so? Who else does? that's an ability Harden has put himself in a category of his own because that's how he plays the game. Klay has his own identity on how he approaches the game and sticks to it much like how Harden does so himself. They stay within their lanes and do what they need to do to get W's
