Well that and if you're an ancient league of assassins, I would think you'd want to keep your trade secrets still secret. If I was the leader of the Faceless Men, I'd have killed Arya as a risk for blurting out critical details of the Faceless Men.
Fencing strikes can be pretty deadly. A quick stab in the heart is all Arya needs. The Neo chase scene with several wounds to your core was more flakey to me. I still thought it was entertaining.
What if the entire goal for Jacquen is to raise a believer in many face god to start a franchise in the seven kingdoms? Think about it, Lord of light was trying to spread there. Already has the Seven and Old gods (tree faces). Also think of all the deaths being cheated because of the Night King.
The Tully army surrendered and left Riverrun. I know Edmure is going to Casterly Rock. Where will the rest of the army go? Will Brienne make it back to the north in time for the battle? That whole Riverrun sequence left a lot of questions unanswered. Hopefully we find out what happens next week. Arya joins and leaves Braavos as a skilled assassin. I guess?
Arya seems to be the best candidate for killing Tonmen. Like an accidental poisoning intended for Cersei.
I'm looking at it from your perspective, too, in that Edmure surrendered Riverrun with the promise that his men get safe passage into the North. I don't understand why the Tully army would agree to that. They recaptured Riverrun from the Freys to be in their home. By surrendering, they are back to square one, instead with the incompetent Tully. Unless there's something more, but that's unlikely from the way this season has gone.
Love this show but gotta say this was by far the weakest episode of the season and definitely one of the weakest of entire series. I'm very hyped for the last 2 episodes. IMO, it's obvious how the battle for WF will go down. Jon and CO fighting valiantly against all odds but ultimately getting decimated by Ramsey and his army. LF and Knight's of the vale will come in and save the day. This is very cliche but I don't see it happening any other way. They gotta have some tragic happen (to a "loved" character) so I'm thinking Spoiler Rickon is a goner on this episode.
Cersei, maybe. Tommen? I know no more than anyone else here but I have my doubts he'll last past Episode 10. The show seems to be killing off her children one per season. Even on this show a character can't travel that fast. Well, except Littlefinger. He either has major mileage points on Westeros Air or he's snorting "mélange" (the spice) and can fold space (see also Dune).
Winterfell Battle Predictions: Spoiler I'm still maintaining my stance that the Umbers are still in on the double cross. The leftovers from the Tully army and the Knights of the Vale are going to hopefully run into each other and join forces. If either of these don't happen, I really don't know how Jon and Sansa are going to win this. I was going to suggest that Jaime marches north to help Brienne out but after his talk with Edmure, I highly doubt it now. Wun Wun, Davos, and Tormund are goners.
Wun Wun (the giant) is going to get some good licks in. This should be sweeeet. Maybe the "tragic" thing happening is the giant, in one last valiant bullrush, gets a hold of Ramsey and pulls him apart, but then lays down and dies of multiple wounds. Also, I'm sure Ghost will die another whimpering-dog death, too.
It was ridiculous Arya was able to relatively recover so quickly from what are usually mortal wounds, but other than that, I enjoyed her sequence in the episode. River Run does seem like an unnecessary plot line right now, but we'll see if anything comes from it. Having another character die off screen is just ridiculous. I think he really is dead, not some cover. It was interesting to see the Brotherhood basically where the books were when they found Catelyn. The episode seemed to close the door on her, at least in the manner of the books. Really enjoy the Hound being back. If the rumors of Cersei and Wildfire are true, I expect her to accidentally kill Tommen in the finale.
I'll just leave it at this. Everyone has their own strengths. No doubt that the waif is the stronger fighter if all things are equal, but things were not equal. In season 1 Serrio Ferrell told Arya that a water dancer does not need her eyes to fight with a sword. During this season Arya became very good at fighting blind. As far as we know the many faced gods never took the Waif girls eye sight like he did Arya's. That leads me back to the first paragraph, Arya created a situation where the she had a big big advantage. That's why she won IMO. Of course it always helps when the script writer is on your side.
Not much different than the books. Jamie took the castle in the books without ever firing a shot or laying siege to the castle.
I guess we watched different shows. - Arya learned how identify and mix poisons with and then again without the use of her eyes. - She learned to fight particularly well using a cudgel stick or quarter staff. - She became an expert fighter and just about everything else without the use of her eye sight. - She already had training from the 1st sword of Braavos. - She learned how to blend in and gather information as well as how to lie exceptionally well. - Even before she learned how to fight and get around without the use of her eyes she used her talents at the end of last season to brutally and viscously assassinate Meryn Trant who was a Kings Guard that killed Serrio Ferrell. So I don't see how you can make that, "Not Plausible" comment. She has already shown the ability to be a lethal assassin.
Remember that either Asha/Theon or Euron Greyjoy is racing to Meereen so I expect them to be able to snag some extra ships. Plus the Dothraki and Unsullied.
They weren't mortal wounds, that's the problem. The Waif wasn't "No One" and was trying to cause pain to Arya instead of slitting her throat/killing her cleanly and gave the Actress who helped Arya a gruesome death.
I can't believe some of you are still going on about Arya and the Waif. The real tragedy is Arya has always been a fan favorite. Its a shame they wasted so much screen time with Braavos and Arya as if she had a real purpose. Sansa, Bran and Rickon have all been a complete bore. I really hope GRRM didnt get bored with her character and decided to truncate her storyline.
