I do recall seeing a report where he'd scoped out Disney as a potential site. But you are correct in that places like nightclubs are ready-made soft targets. My point was that given his documented history of bigoted rants against minorities, it was the choice of the gay club that lends me to believe that this was more of a hate crime than an actual terrorist attack. Having been to Orlando many times, I can tell you that places like Wet n Wild, Sea World and Downtown Disney also form readily accessible soft targets because one can simply drive right up to them and launch an attack - especially if equipped with a military style weapon like the AR-15.

 

He certainly could have. You say "why bother with an AR" and I say, most don't. Very few murders in this country are with AR-15's, most are with handguns. They are just much better for close range shooting.

I have a 22 as well, the main difference between the two is that the .223 fires at a much higher velocity, but the caliber is very similar.....which is what I said.

What? There's a host of AR15 applications for CQB. I mean, what? C'mon dude. There's no comparison between the velocity of a 223 or 556 round a handgun round. Not to mention, a rifle is a lot easier to shoot and shoot accurately even at 6-7 feet than a handgun.

A 22 round shoots at 1000 feet per second and a 223 shoots at 3000 feet per second. The difference in those rounds is GIGANTIC. Not to mention a 223 centerfire round is FAR more reliable than a rimfire 22. Only a complete moron would prefer the 22 over the 223 in these scenarios. So yeah, you're full of it as usual.

Virginia Tech was handguns. Handguns are responsible for far more deaths than rifles in general.

Not in the least, you are a total fool if you don't realize that handguns are more effective than rifles in close quarters.

You simply don't know what you are talking about and I guess that's okay. The world is full of super civilians that think they know what they are talking about because they went to a shooting range once.

A standard AR-15 shoots a similar caliber round to a 22 and as such it is banned in several states for use on Deer or larger game. Of course you can still kill a Deer with an AR-15 if you know where to shoot and you can hit the spot you aim at, but that is irrelevant. The reason one of my AR-15's has a .25-45 Sharps upper receiver on it is because the standard .223 is illegal to hunt deer with in some states. Look it up kiddo, learn something.

 

There was a study done recently that compiled data on mass shootings (defined as shootings where at least 4 people were killed) between 2009 and 2015, an "assault rifle was used in 11% of those almost all of the rest were with handguns.

 

Obama is really trying hard to control guns.
