And i see it differently, right now there is negotiation between Astros and K for a long and lucrative contract, what should we do??? He has pitched 5 years, 3 of them with ERA's over 5, Luthnow is in a very tough spot. Also, i am not happy reading K dishing the team (and he is right by the way) and he pitching as the worse, of one of worse pitcher in our roster. If you are going to dish your team, start pitching good.
It is pretty evident that you do not pay him. If he shows in the second half that he is effective, than pay him. But he is losing a crap ton of money right now with these shotty efforts.
Awwww Nothing more cute than the "insider" taking up for castrated Sorry I upset you Mr Insider You could always put me on ignore, know what I mean Mr Insider
One of the main problems this season is that they are not good enough (for the most part) to overcome mistakes. Every little thing they do or fail to do seems to come back to haunt them. Correa muffs a fairly routine DP and the next batter hits a game winning double. Fail to turn a DP today and they give up 5 runs when they most likely would have given up 1. The examples throughout the season are numerous. Good teams can overcome those miscues and win games. The Astros are not at the level.
Agree, cause if he doesn't get it going in the right direction the team isn't likely to end up in contention
Barring a complete collapse by the Rangers coupled with the Astros playing .700 ball the rest of the way, the division is already lost. The question will be if they can get to .500 by the All-Star break and hopefully only be behind a handful of teams at 5-7 games back for the second wild card.
And Gattis needs to trim his. He was bad with no beard. He is bad with full beard. He was good with in-between beard.
I said 'right now' I would rather have Straily. Its clear as day he has been better than Keuchel this season so far. Question remains can Straily keep it up and can Keuchel turn his season around.
Not to mention that as the mistakes mount, they press harder which bolsters the likelihood they make even more. The thing I notice most about last year compared to this one is last year, especially early, they were playing free and easy. Having a lot of fun. Just playing the game. Not so much this year.
He should probably shave it mid-game after the 5th inning... seems to be the biggest problematic spot. TBH, he looked as good as ever over the first 4... 1 hit, 8 K's. Sure, his defense failed him, but the mental-physical aspects of pitching deep into games with no run support has probably taken its toll (I believe he's last in the league in runs scored for him/game). The lineup does need upgrades... regardless of whether Keuchel, McHugh, Fiers and McCullers can get more consistent. Of course, this team won't win squat if the above 4 don't stop alternating horrid starts with good ones.
This team is two good hitters away from contending. I think the pitching turns around. I believe we have a 280/390 guy in the minors named Alex Bregman. We need to trade for one more hitter.
Gattis was ranked as our most overrated player. I think given how poor our lineup has been, I've given him and will continue to give him a pass because he's in the better half of the lineup, lol.
Agreed. We have a good foundation but still too many holes in the lineup. Until we get a few more good bats, we'll continue to be like our current hitters: streaky.
