I'm glad you think that they aren't similar, but your statement did exactly that - if it's not insinuating that they are similar, the statement makes even less sense.
Either Baylor does or does not have solid ground to fire Briles. I guess this is why they suspended him with intent to fire. They weren't 100% sure yet. Problem is, it is going to look horrible for them to bring him back now in any capacity... So even if the report clears his name, it would be a PR disaster to have him on the sidelines. So, Baylor really shot themselves in the foot here. A total no win situation. Either they lose a ton of face, a ton of money, or a significant amount of both.
At a high level, you can be ashamed of the way a team runs things yet still be a fan. Reference wearing brown paper bags over your head at sporting events which is routine. Seeing another article saying that there is no vote happening to re-instate Briles
Heard somewhere that this is stipulated in his contract. Something that this would need to occur before any firing.
I've never seen a group of people so eager to put their foot in their mouth than Baylor alumni here. Ya'll just need to appointment MadMax as your press secretary here on CF and chill for a while.
Or create a thread in the D&D called "Media and University of Texas unfairly targeting Baylor because of on field Success" to take this morally repugnant views where they belong. Here you go: http://bbs.clutchfans.net/newthread.php?do=newthread&f=28
Who ever is advising them is either doing the worst job in history or they're about to release some version of the report that turns this whole thing on it's head. Regardless as can be seen by the actions at Mississippi State, whatever punishment transpires here will not carry over to change anything at other programs. It will always be about the money and power at the expense of others.
The crime was worse at Penn State, but the fan reaction has been identical and I don't remember any PSU boosters trying to bring Paterno back two weeks later.
Oh they absolutely did. Franco Harris made national headlines saying exactly that. Others suggested they name the stadium field after him.

Rumor is that the big time donors are the ones pushing this. Them backing the "small minority" could make things interesting.

Remember, Drayton cut Julio Lugo the day after the domestic violence "allegation" with his wife only later to find out that his wife made it up. Point being he got rid of Lugo, and I would think he'd have a problem with multiple rapes/violence against women at his alma mater. Then again we're talking Drayton who's full of $HIT!!!
