Rumor seems to be growing legs. If this happens, the backlash on Baylor will be insane. This might be the only way they could make their handling of this situation worse.

Briles, his assistant coaches, Starr, McCaw, the Baylor administration, the Waco police, Baylor police, many in the Waco media, Baylor board of Directors, as well as BU big $$ donors have sold their soul to the devil for football success. Nevermind that it's a CHRISTIAN school.

Baylor deserves EVERY punishment/lawsuit that's coming their way.

Not only will recruits continue to decommit, but their student enrollment will take a hit as well. I know there's no freakin way in hell I would send my child to this place.

For many people the problem has gone far beyond football. This appears to be such a systematic issue with the organization that putting a team on the field or retaining a head coach should barely even by secondary issues.

I have not read this whole thread, but in comments sections from various articles I have seen a few common statements that I have found disappointing. The first is the focus on football and the "let's get this behind us and play ball" mentality. No - this is not an issue that you put behind you just so that it does not become an inconvenience for the football program. The well-being of the football team at this point simply should not matter.

The second comment I've seen is the attempt to deflect the issue by bringing up comparisons to other situations like Florida State or Penn State. The "other people are doing it" argument. That is a completely invalid argument. Just because other programs have done similar things, and the likelihood that other programs are doing similar things and haven't been caught does not matter one bit in regards to the discussion about the failures of Baylor and local Waco authorities.

If this rumor that Briles will only serve a one-year suspension is true then that is Baylor's choice. They have to do what they feel is best for that school. It will instantly undo any show of good will or contrition - no matter how sincere or insincere - the school has shown over the past several weeks. If that is not as important as the football program then so be it. That is on them.

I don't believe for one minute Art Briles will ever coach Baylor again. The idea is preposterous. It would destroy any notion of moving on and putting these sad events in the past.

The vote or bringing Briles back isn't happening? The former is ridiculousness in itself.

Ive never seen an institution mishandle literally every decision that falls on their doorstep. It seems like the NCAA's silence (so far) has given Baylor a false sense of security. I heard that Baylor specifically requested that Pepper Hamilton not put a complete report in writing, instead giving an oral presentation to their board where no member took notes. This place is the absolute definition of "lack of institutional control". Vote back Briles and I think things will become very bad for Baylor. As in NCAA penalties, as well as motions by other Big12 teams to have them thrown out of the conference. Its become clear that the University cares only about football wins and money. Hell, when the PH summary stated, non specifically, that "coaches" knew about some of these assaults and did nothing...they wouldnt even replace the staff. Briles was apparently blindsided by his firing because Starr was not going to fall on teh sword for him. Just a disgusting situation all around.

It seems the NCAA can only punish a program if an assistant coach pays the electric bill for the parents of a player or other compensation related issues. They can't penalize schools for activities like this.

UT media is getting salty because the plan from day 1 was to have Briles as their coach in 2017

Call me an idiot all you want but it's true. This was never about the victims or whatever BS was spewing from Austin this whole time. This was about Baylor getting good at football and UT getting pissed about it.
