It shows that he was playing at about the same level once he came back from injury that he was playing at the previous season. The major difference between this season and last is that he got JBB'd fairly often so his per game numbers look a lot worse which I'm sure is why you'd prefer to only use those. If you understand what per 36 is actually telling you, and how it should be used, then there's nothing at all "unrealistic" about the numbers. While it's true DMo struggled when he first returned, the main thing he had a problem with was just a god-awful coach that had no business coaching an NBA team. DMo had the same problem that KJ McDaniels and Harrell had, they often got little to no playing time sitting behind inferior players. When those 3 got minutes, more often than not, they played well and all 3 contributed to wins for the team whenever they were allowed to.
It will be interesting to see if we sign him, or what that line in the sand is for what we will not pay. We screwed up and let Parsons walk for nothing, that is my biggest beef with this org, we don't PAY role players - we never keep them beyond their rookie deals, we continually flip flip flip, especially young developing players. We have let folks that could really help our team in the Harden Era go - I don't want to see us let DMo go when his game compliments Harden's so well, I want our org to wisen up and get better at recognizing how complimentary pieces work - and to find a way to keep our better players. Now, DMo is a risk, I will grant anyone that - even though his back is healthy, and he has elite level post moves, it is a risk to sign him to a long term deal, and Morey might let the league set that rate - which is what he has always done, and I think that is a mistake. I like Morey as a person, but as a talent evaluator, I think he and his team are suspect at best, when PPatterson is 6th overall on your draft board, you suck at creating a draft board. DD
BWHAHAHA no it doesn't. It's only an IF stat. If Dmo did play 36 minutes a game it's not a guarantee that his numbers would have sky rocketed up like that. Did he have a few solid games when he played over 20 minutes , yes. But he had a lot of games in which he didn't play well causing him to only play 6 minutes.
We didn't screw up letting Parsons go. He has done nothing since he left. He is not championship proven like Ariza.
It's practically impossible to think of some sarcastic thing to say about dmo that hasnt already been exceeded by the dmofs. I mean this is a group that says we should keep dmo over Durant because of Durant's foot injury
Yes, it's an "if" stat that shows the rate at which he was playing.....and if you look at the games where he actually got minutes, you would see that his numbers did in fact go up with the playing time. We also have a whole season worth of sample showing this so really it just shows that he was still doing it. Really it's just an indictment of JBB as a coach, the more he played DMo, the better he did and the better the team did. Again, the only game the Rockets won in the playoffs was the one game where they played DMo starters minutes.
It is not so much about Parsons and Ariza - that is trying to compare an individuals skillset to another in a one on one basis. It is about how they FIT with a Harden led team, both fit, BTW, but Parsons is a much better fit because of the way he can also creates off the dribble. Parsons is a 10 in fit with Harden, Ariza is a 7, so we got WORSE as a team when we traded one for the other. Scola being let go and us having TJones and Dmo was a downgrade. Lowry being replaced by Bev - although this one is really close. We have continually gotten players that on paper, or compared in a vacuum in a one v one scenario seem to fit great - however, they make the team weaker than the player that left. Hell, even Patterson, the guy I mentioned above would have helped better than Smith, or TJones.... We have downgraded on players that fit - and THAT is why this team has degraded - because outside of a lucky run in the 4th quarter where two HORRID 3pt shooters in Brewer and Smith got hot - an anomaly, the Rockets have replaced good fitting players with weaker ones. Think about how many have traipsed through this team in the last 3-4 years and see if any of them are better than what we currently have....???? Every team has turnover, but they keep the specialists or the ones that fit the best......that is the BIGGEST area that the Rockets fall down, IMHO. DD
We made the conference finals with Ariza and harden We lost in the first round with Parsons and harden Ariza is the better fit. Lowry was traded for the pick to get harden, so that one wasn't about bev. Pat was also traded to make room for guys like dmo and capella. So he had to go.
Friend from Lithuania media says Dmo will be pursued by Golden State if they lose Ezeli and Speights in offseason.
Of course - because they are a smart organization that recognizes a good smart team oriented player. DD
its the same stat line that showed joey Dorsey averaging a double double. Of course it should be used
