He claimed them. They saw it as an opportunity and claimed him back.

We're bombing them every day and took out the 2nd in command a couple months ago. It's hard to police and fight a single person.

Or....there were actual ties there. I mean, there's a reason the FBI had him under "security review"

So he was influenced and motivated by ISIS. It's either that or motivated by Muslim extremeism.

    Take your pick.

FBI probably has every Muslim in this country under some sort of security review.

Regarding timeline of entering, here is an article providing a good timeline of response to the Paris Bataclan Concert.

<a href="https://news.vice.com/article/this-is-what-happened-at-the-bataclan-concert-hall-during-the-paris-attacks">This Is What Happened at the Bataclan Concert Hall During the Paris Attacks</a>

The first responders did enter within 10 minutes or so after the shooting. However, the attacker they killed on stage detonated a bomb when he fell. They immediately left the building then.

From that result, training now probably dictates not to do that.

After that inside intel that went bad, they knew better what they were up against. Most first responders were helping people escape versus entering to engage. The tactical "BRI" unit launched their assault at the 90 minute mark. There was definitive knowledge they had hostages at that point.

Read the timeline. I read it as police went in immediately, but might not do it that way a 2nd time, rather wait for the BRI unit to take over. Still BRI attacked at 90 minutes. Maybe sooner or later based on the situation.

So, even if we stepped up security in places- look at this situation - 2 officers returning fire and 100+ people are still killed / wounded.

Sunday, 2:02 a.m. ET: Shooting erupts at Pulse, a gay nightclub in the heart of Orlando, as some 320 people enjoy the club's "Latin flavor" event.
An officer working extra duty in full uniform at the club responds.
He and two officers nearby open fire on the shooter, and a gun battle ensues.
The shooter goes inside the club, where a hostage situation develops.
Some 100 officers from the Orange County Sheriff's Office and the Orlando Police Department respond to the chaotic scene.

Interviewed twice by the FBI, yet investigations were inconclusive; go figure...

2 people to protect 320 people isn't exactly optimal, wouldn't you agree? Then again, the attempted attack in Texas where they had the cartoon drawing event had one cop that took out 2 gunmen so the level of training likely needs to be increased drastically. If you had 2 officers that were actually worth a damn, maybe this is stopped fairly quickly. Hell maybe he doesn't even make it inside with a long rifle.
