Annnd that's why they choked at the end like Spurs did to end the season. England were actually good for the majority of the match. They haven't been overhyped by English fans like they usually are for every tournament. The hype was probably more from other countries for England than it was by the English for England. Everyone knows how it will end for England. Regardless, it was a good performance until the 90th minute came around. Fabulous job by Rooney in midfield with Dier and Alli. Some questionable decisions by Hodgson- Kane taking set pieces? Leaving Vardy and Sturridge on the bench while Kane had an ineffective match? The next match vs Wales should be an absolute cracker.
Glad you said Idiot fans- yung T and not just idiot England fans because the narrative is always that England fans started stuff and England fans were causing trouble. At the end of the match, it was noted that the Russian "fans"(can't even call them that) who'd already been let into the stadium with flares, went into the England supporters section to cause trouble and that's what happened. The majority of England fans trying to escape after the Russians got entry into the England section. According to those there, the last few days, England supporters were accosted by Marseille ultra's and then Russian supporters and goaded into fighting(which didn't take much to do because some of the England supporters are idiots and stupidly responded, and then of course the French police who already have enough to deal with in terms of safety for the tournament, had to then turn around and deal with fans fighting in the streets). Now this should probably have been expected because back in France 98, the Marseille ultra's did the exact same thing to England fans. They figured they'd goad them into fighting because hey, it's England fans, they think they're the toughest and if anything happens, England fans will get most of the blame. It happened then and it happened again. Shameful that all England fans will get looked on as hooligans when it was a minority that chose to respond to the other fans trying to kick things off with them. Either way, it should never have happened. Lots of blame to go around between the English fans, Russian fans and Marseille Ultra's. Good article by Ollie Holt on what happened today http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/fo...tiful-game-ahead-Euro-2016-opener-Russia.html
What did fans expect with a dinosaur manager like Roy Hodgepodge? England always fold under pressure, no mental fortitude whatsoever. Plus you have an outdated manager who is absolutely clueless.
I think a tournament is really different from the league You have to consider the age difference. Russia had all the experience with the oldest team. England had lots of young attacking players who have not been to a Euro or WC being the youngest team
There is one rumored change to this lineup. Pjaca is benched, Badelj will take Brozović's place in the central midfield and Broz will move to the right wing. Broz has never played as a winger in his life, I'm not sure what to think of this. Hope for the best.
Well, I obviously missed some action. Both games must've been fun, at least in the second half. Croatia vs Turkey could be good.
Just read your story regarding the coach, Zagreb Boss etc., damn. Would suck if you guys underperform because of such shady crap.
Srna looks real good. It's a shame he stayed in Donetsk and never joined one of Europe's elite leagues.
Quite hilarious - the Turkish defender was fixing his hair instead of defending Modric... https://www.facebook.com/SPOXcom/videos/10154249297334592/
I don't think I've given enough thought to why there is a Northern Ireland and Southern Island, with opposing teams. Can and have both made the world cup before? Must be some serious politics going on there.
