that doesn't make any sense. Love's so called max contract is almost the same as the projected less than max contract Rhyno is said to get next month. The difference may be around 1 million. So yeah. I rather have Love who is much younger than Rhyno.
What team out there is going to give Anderson a max contract? I'm not even going to ask the source because if it's any other than Woj the usual grain of salt needs to be taken and taken heavily. Even a contract of $15-16 mill a year is still a better value than the $21+ Love is getting. This year's stats: Anderson: 17/6 43% FG 37% 3PT Love: 16/10 42% FG 36% 3PT You must know something Basketball Reference does not know: Ryan Anderson DOB: 5/6/88 Kevin Love DOB: 9/7/88
Key differences are Love is a great to elite rebounder, Anderson is mediocre to poor. Love's stats are being suppressed from being on a superteam where he's playing the Bosh role, and Anderson's stats are being amplified from being on one of the worst teams in the league. Love is clearly a superior player, that being said since he probably won't be available, I wouldn't mind Anderson for half the money, or Teletovic.
Love's rebounding average has been far from elite since he joined Cleveland. Suppression of offensive stats was expected with LeBron and Kyrie on the team but rebounding shouldn't have taken such a hit for Love. It's not due to shooting more 3s because his 3 point FGAs are about the same to what it was in his last year's in Minnesota when he was still averaging 13-14 rebounds a night. Would I take a Kevin Love on this team? Sure would but if I can get, like you said, an Anderson or Mirza for half or 2/3s the price I rather go that route.
Touche on citing the Woj snippet  though $16 million is vastly different than a $20+ million per season deal max contract players are getting / will get.
oups. I was under the impression that Rhyno was much older than that. lol I don't know who will pay him, but last time I checked around the february trade deadline there were multiple rumours by many reliable journalists about him getting around 20 per. Woj, Stein, other people at the Vertical I think that even Lowe. I don't know how much he will end up getting or by whom but don't expect lower than 17. Unless ofc he gets a serious injury. And Love's contract will get better and better as time goes on. Next year not only Barnes,Rhyno but also the likes of Oladipo will get that and even more. His contract isn't a problem. For a second or third wheel of team such salary is now normal and expected.
The problem with Love in Cleveland is that Lebron should be playing the 4 more often and Love can only really play the PF. I'm sure Love could play the 5 periodically, but it really depends the lineup and matchup. BI think Kevin Love is a better player than what he has become in Cleveland. I would still prefer Love over Anderson as his contract is pretty good and you get him for the rest of his prime. Love's post up game is actually pretty good and was hardly used in Cleveland. However, we have a much better shot at Anderson.
I think Howard(S&T) for Thompson makes a lot of sense for both Houston and the Cavs. Cavs HAVE to win now before LeBron declines too much, and Howard is a rich mans Thompson with rim protection. Rockets get a young, strong and scrappy center that can rebound, finish in the paint and defend very well. Thompson isn't a rim protector like Howard, but is Chuck Hayes like with his quick feet, low gravity/strength, quick hands and long reach, just with a much better vertical and more height. He's also locked up on a mini max of 16 mill per for 4 seasons (which after this and next off season, will look like a very fair deal). Howard, Ariza and Brewer for Thompson, Shumpert and Frye would be nice. How much better would the Cavs be with a lineup like this? Irving / Delly Smith LeBron / Ariza Love Howard / Mozgof LeBron HAS to bring a championship to the Cavs, they have to act quick this off season if they are going to beat the Warriors. I think acquiring Howard and or Anthony is the way to go.
Looks good on paper but: What about small ball and hack? They risk to be left with who at the 5 since Mozgov is 90% gone? Love can't stay on the court if Lebron plays the 4, and Dwight can't stay on the court if he doesn't score from the ft line...these are two big issues for the Cavs in this scenario...and on top of that remember that Lebron seems like he doesn't like Dwight, and he basically was the reason why Thompson got that big contract...i don't see him asking for this swap honestly...
Thompson is a pretty poor FT shooter him self, they don't have to go small. But just for you I'll fix the trade. If Cavs must go small ball, then they should just trade Love for Melo, making LeBron the full time PF. Love to Celtics Melo to Cavs Celtic picks to Knicks Makes way too much sense for all teams involved. + Adam Silver changes the rules to stop hacking. Also, LeBron and Thompson have the same agent that's why it's not because they're super friends, and I've never seen any reports that Lebron and Howard don't get along, nor can I find any. Irving / Delly Smith / Brewer Anthony / Ariza LeBron Howard / Mozgof Most perfect trade idea ever amirite?
TT is decent enough though, 60% is still meh, but not hackable. Also yeah, same agent as Lebron, but i think Lebron had a huge weight in this, if he wasn't ok with TT he would've not helped/forced the Cavs to pay him that much. Anyway, i like Love to Celtics with Melo in Cleveland more, i think Lebron would also be ok with him. With Dwight eh, can't find that stuff myself now but i read it here somewhere months ago (and it's still not hard to believe anyway). I also like the idea to throw them Brewer and Ariza, just not sure about having the contract of TT having Capela at 1.5/2 for two more seasons...but, in the end what are you suggesting? Howard + Ariza + Brewer x TT and? (pick/s from Boston?)

If Charlotte gave their second (i think they have one) , and if we can't sign two max players would you absorb Lamb's salary?
Trade the farm for Kevin Love. Just do it. He's not a perfect fit for them, and they may be interested in making some changes this offseason if they don't beat Golden State. They may see the upside in a package of Ariza, Bev, (Capela), young guys, and or picks. Wishful thinking? He'd be a great fit in Houston.
Do you guys think David West could contribute on this team if our offense is a run and gun team? I'm thinking he could come off the bench for 10-15 minutes a game, but I'm not sure how the pace will take a toll on his body. Mo Speights would be a great fit if we could get him out of GSW.
Trade ariza or bev to a team willing for a future 1st rd pick Trade bev and capela along with future 1st(or ariza and bev if they prefer both players over the pick) to Atlanta for teague. Max Whiteside. Sign dudley, marvin, Gordon Teague Harden Dudley Marvin Whiteside Gordon as 6th man
