KD would be right back in the finals if it weren't for a historic team like GS. Up 3-1 they were good enough to win. They just didn't learn how to close it out.

that's assuming Morey is going to sign max level FA's though. If KD is going to sign, he would be joining the 2015 rockets in reality initially since he would be the top priority first for Morey.

    Ya burnt!!

Really, KD has been very clear on numerous occasions that there are only two or three people who actually know information about his plans, and that he's not yet talking about free agency. So it's very likely that steins sources are just as good as anyone here on CF.

Rockets would be in the finals last season if it weren't for the Warriors...

Not really. Is that GM that's his source Durant? Yeah. Exactly.

If that is the case, then he will only leave for GSW, Cleveland, or SA. The mere fact that there is speculation of him moving means he's not all in on OKC for next year.

One key point to remember about this upcoming season. With the raise in salary coming this year, EVERY team can offer KD the EXACT same max as OKC for the first year. OKC can give him better raises, but so can any other team he signs a one year deal with. If he wants out of OKC, then this would be the perfect time to do it since Bird rights won't really go into the decision.

I am sure Durant has talked about it with a lot of people. For the record, he has a much better team in OKC than he would have here in Houston, they are a lot closer to the chip than we are, so if the money is more there, do you really see him leaving, or is this another Melo situation where he just wants to feel the love.

Believe these so-called sports journalists if you want.

I recall two years ago, Stein interviewing Daryl Morey after Parsons signed with Dallas and Bosh stayed in Miami. The exact wording escapes me, but it wasn't far from, "Daryl, after the debacle of this off-season, how is the team going to pick up the pieces?" Honestly....not far from that wording. And Stein was only 78.3% successful in killing the smile on his face.

Broussard and his "multiple sources say Dwight is having second thoughts and is thinking about returning to the Lakers".

Ramona Shelburne and "no way Dwight will leave the Lakers".

Stephen A. Smith talking about Durant and the Knicks.

ESPN and all their my-agenda people. Kevin Durant's most likely move? Stay put, sure. But he has yet to go through the free agency courtship, so he doesn't know where he'll be next year. There can be no true sources on this, let alone "league sources".

For the record, we know the Thunder as currently constructed are a better team. But we don't know for sure what he's thinking or what he's blabbing.

Apparently only OKC, SA, and GS. Just ask Mark Cuba---er, Marc Stein.

Durant 99.9% isn't coming to Houston, but LOL at Marc Stein being credible. He's as credible as Chris Broussard.

If Durant chooses to hold meetings, the Rockets will get a meeting.

If Durant is so certain about OKC then why didn't he already opt in?

There is a decision to be made here or else he'd already have committed to them even verbally. Instead it looks like he's willing to be courted and if he's willing to be courted that means that there is some part in his mind that says he's willing to leave if convinced.

I don't claim to know Durant or what he will do. I think it's pretty clear that he's not entirely sure of it either. Otherwise why not just come out and say it by now. "I'm here, I'm a thunder and they don't have anything to worry about when it comes to that."

This is the 2nd time he could have hit FA btw and the first time he locked it up ASAP and played no games with it and it was clear he'd be there.

I am sure he hasn't. All reports are he has a VERY, VERY small inner circle and by all reports they have been radio silent.

Dallas Sauces Stein has taken calls from Cuban to get a few hot takes however.

Durant has no option on this contract. He is a free agent on July 1 regardless of whether he wants to stay in OKC or not.

Yes, which proves that OKC can also fail next season too.

Perhaps the Spurs get Gasol or Conley or something and then maybe Durant has a chat with Presti (As he will) about what the future holds for OKC...maybe Durant isn't impressed about the future of the team?

Maybe Morey can convince him of the future of the Rockets over the future of OKC?

There are a ton of moving parts here, it's best to just sit back and watch it unfold.

Woah, woah, woah, get your sound logic and reasoning out of here! Haven't you heard? Everyone already knows Durant is re-signing with OKC, even if he himself hasn't decided yet. There's certainly no way he'd want to play for Houston with James Haren! Haha get it???!! Cuz he doesn't play defense hahahahjds;lifhioqb

And how dare you go against the almighty Marc Stein! He has never been wrong, his word is his bond! Good day Sir!!! /s

yeah the key is the moving parts and whether or not Houston will be able to get significant ones that move the needle that will help entice KD coming here. But that's the tricky part since he'll be the first FA Hou is going to go after without knowing you we will be able to get.

Yeah which is why I said verbally.

It's the same thing with Lebron, he HELPS his team by saying it now. "I'm staying." right now his waffling hurts the team. Had Lebron then said "I'm staying in Cleveland." before the Miami thing he could have attracted FAs at the time some players wanted to play with him in Cleveland and didn't know about the Miami thing.

So if he's committed to OKC then as I said, 3 days at most he will commit to them right? It's such the obvious choice for him so he should do as soon as he can because I'm sure Presti would like to improve his team as well and Durant being there vs Durant not being there will be vital to the players they will try to sign (ring chasing vets).

Oh the Rockets know that and I'm pretty sure they will be talking to multiple guys all at once. They can have a meeting with Durant and talk to Horford the same day.

So it'll be interesting. Only thing I know for certain is all hell will break loose when Durant allows himself to be courted. Dwightmare over again thanks to social media today. Everyone and their 'sources' will have Durant all over the country and that includes random Twitter barbers.
