Nah dog, thats not it at all. The bottom line is Houston has a chance at Durant. They aren't favorites, they are just "in the discussion" Anyone who says we are getting him is probably wrong, and anyone thinks we are totally out of it is probably wrong.
Anything can happen. Just look at CP3, Dwight, and Deandre Jordan. CP3 almost went to the Lakers and ended up going to the other LA team. Dwight was posed to go to BK, got traded to the Lakers, and ended up signing with us. Jordan committed to Mavs and then turned around in the most entertaining process of shenanigans to go back to Clips who STILL can't get out of the 2nd round.
That is not what most of these people are arguing man. This very well may be true and Durant has no intention of coming here, we dont know, nobody really does, and although we have a case to make a decent pitch other teams can do better. What the majority of people here ARE saying is that Stein is not a valid source, that he is often wrong and biased against the Rockets. You are so desperate to be "right" for a change that you are missing the point DD
Exactly. It's like calling the election 6 months before polls open. People are acting like Houston is Ralph Nader here. I feel like a lot of CFs think it's cool to just dig on this team. I'm not saying we are getting Durant, but we have as good of a chance as any. A lot of the flashier teams that have a shot at him have issues of fit. The teams that are retooling and building would also have some growing pains for Durant. No matter where he goes, Durant will either have to grow, or the team that takes him will. The only place where he can keep doing what he's doing is OKC, that's why I would be shocked if he leaves. However, the media cycle does what they want to. Durant is for sure going to GSW! No, Spurs! No, Harlem Globetrotters! Bleh.
LOL at Dallas Marc Stein, whose "sources" and "rival executives" basically amount to Mark Cuban. Once again Cuban framing a narrative for Dallas Stein to pass along in an article to throw shade at the Houston Rockets free agency process. It is laughable and transparent. The fact this this Stein articles goes so hard and firm that KD wouldn't consider Houston is laughable. Stein doesn't have any info from KD's camp. So how would he know? BUT his is just SO FIRM that Houston won't be considered. Trash. No coincidence this Stein report comes 1 day after a Woj/Morey podcast. Look, KD is likely going back to OKC. And I am not saying Houston will sign him or are favorites to. BUT, to dismiss Houston all together? Rubbish.
As has been said, Durant might not be considering Houston, but Harden would know that already if it was the case. Unless Durant isn't actually human, as the media seems to portray sports people.
LOL why y'all so salty. Did anyone actually think he was actually coming to Houston in the first place?
Wasn't Stein one of the people who kept saying Howard was going back to LA? The reality is considering KD's personality and the fact that OKC just went to the freakin' finals and took GSW to 7 games 90% chance he signs a 2 year deal. Other than that all other teams are fair game, to say Houston has no chance when Celtics and Dallas are mentioned trying to pursue him is just illogical. With or without KD though I still like what the Rockets have, lots of capspace, a young and healthy franchise player in Harden, and a solid young prospect in Capela. We'll see what happens either this year or if they stand pat, next year.
CP3 also was about to come here to play with Dwight and Harden. What changed his mind? The Clippers getting Doc Rivers, who at the time many thought was a mediocre coach. Chris Paul didn't think that though, and what Chris Paul thought turns out to be a lot more valuable than what many fans on the internet thought. So that's me saying this. People rail on MDA. What does Durant think about MDA? People rail on Harden. What does Durant think about Harden? People rail on the Rockets. What does Durant think about the Rockets? All this talk about how the Rockets are crap, that MDA is a fool of a head coach, and Harden is Frauden is how that particular poster feels. Not Durant. I've yet to see any actual valid proof as to why Durant wouldn't consider Houston besides fans just going complete emo on the Rockets.
Precisely. Start the narrative and fan the flames. Cuban 101 to try to dampen the Rockets free agency. Morey pretty much mentioned this scenario at the end of the season presser about rival GMs pushing false narratives to hurt the team. We all knew he was talking about Cuban.
<blockquote class="twitter-tweet" data-lang="en"><p lang="en" dir="ltr"><a href="https://twitter.com/treykline">@treykline</a> rockets believe they have a shot at KD. That's fine.nothing wrong with it.</p>— Calvin Watkins (@calvinwatkins) <a href="https://twitter.com/calvinwatkins/status/741323852135858177">June 10, 2016</a></blockquote> <script async src="//platform.twitter.com/widgets.js" charset="utf-8"></script> The Rockets still feel as if they have a shot. That's something.
Didn't really expect him to consider us. Maybe if we were good this year. But we sucked and we are losing one of our best players (despite what some think of him now). Not only are we losing him, we are basically forcing him out, after spending years begging him to come here. I'm ashamed of the way the organization and fans on here treated Dwight, and I wouldn't be surprised if KD considered that in his evaluation of Houston as a destination (despite his dislike for Dwight).
Yeah, because the same guy that called Dwight a p***y cares about how the fans treat him. Right. Talk about a reach to force your own agenda.
Valid proof? I mean I don't have a smoking gun, but what I just posted likely factors into his decision making. He isn't going to leave OKC to go to a worse team. I don't think we are better than OKC, especially without Dwight.
