I've been highly critical of Baylor, but I've never been rooting against Baylor. If they don't let these guys out of their LOIs, that will be the final straw for me.
Seriously. BU fans are wondering why people are hating while they are publicly victim shaming and posting stuff like this. And this board has been a hell of lot more civilized than elsewhere. These kids are getting out of their LOI either way. The NCAA is not going to deny an appeal.

I just don't understand Baylor's strategy here. There are three potential scenarios: 1) The NCAA rules that Baylor has to let these kids go free. 2) The NCAA agrees with Baylor, and the kids are forced to transfer and sit out a year. 3) The NCAA agrees with Baylor, and the kid cannot afford to be off of scholarship for a year so he stays All three result in bad press and damage Baylor's relationship with high school coaches. The third option (read: the scenario Baylor is HOPING for) results in disgruntled players being forced to stay in a place they don't want to be, and could have disastrous chemistry and recruiting implications. (Do you really want Recruit X getting a chance to have alone time with a player who was held against his will in Waco?) Is Baylor just trying to prove a point? Are they in denial? Do they realize that none of these options will end well for them? I'm just so baffled by every decision that administration makes.
NCAA needs to step in here. That or lawyer up. There's something so slimy about Baylor coaches & admin running a ridiculous sex crime cover-up scheme, crashing the program into the ground, and then having the nerve to tell kids in the program where they can and can't transfer to. Hell, the NCAA should lift the transfer-sit rule. It's not these kids' fault their coaches and administrators completely failed them.
It's a national letter of intent, a binding agreement that neither side can revoke without consequences. The process requires each kid to file paperwork asking for a waiver from the NCAA to cancel the agreement without penalty. Until the NCAA reviews each individual, Baylor has every incentive to take that time to try to work behind the scenes to convince these kids to stay and try to clean up the mess they've created. Just because the media isn't reporting progress happening doesn't mean nothing is happening. Everything else being said now is just opinion so if you are an expert on crisis resolution, then Baylor needs your help. If you are just saying Baylor should let these kids go because deep down you want them at your school, then that makes you a hypocrite because it's really about you and not the players.
Another day and another rape victim comes forward against a Baylor football player. Also, the fact they will not allow their commits to transfer to another Big XII program lets everyone know just how contrite the administration is. The bad blood is only getting worse.
Baylor should not put stipulations on transfers because the people in charge of their wellfare completely screwed them over. I could give a flying fart where they go. But Baylor has zero moral high ground to stand on here in determining the future of these kids lives.
This is not true. BU can grant a complete release once a request is submitted and the NLI would just be null and void. There is a difference between being released from the NLI and not fulfilling it, the latter would require the penalty like you stated. The NCAA doesn't have anything to review until Baylor makes a decision. They have 30 days to make a decision so agree that they should be able to take this time but it doesn't sound like they are reporting progress to their own commits. A few parents have expressed their frustration with this which is understandable. What does that make Baylor then?
Totally agree. It's starting out with bad chemistry at a time where they need that more than ever. The only consequence I could see is if a player's family sues.
From everything I have read that's not true until they are enrolled. Baylor has the option to release anyone that hasn't actually enrolled and that player would be free to play for any college after that. For players that have enrolled I understand that if Baylor releases them they will have to sit out a year unless the NCAA decides to wave that rule for a special circumstance. That s what I've read in a couple of different places.
Hearing that BU is not going to release any of the players. Things could change but sounds like kids will have to wait until the 24th or 25th for the appeal to go to the NLI board. Per the NLI website, an appeal can take 6-8 weeks to process.
Everyone already hates Baylor. They could let everyone out but people will still complain about the assistants being there. You all want Baylor to do a self-imposed death penalty (essentially).. There are players that are not leaving and that would give the option to say ef it we're out of here too. Why stop there? Let's give releases to all current players. You all will only be happy if Baylor is buried 6 feet under.
Just because you've scored 100 points on the ****-o-meter does not mean you should shoot for 200 cuz "f*** it".
Yea but I don't know if they have made it "official" to the point where the recruits could make their appeal to the NCAA.
