Nick... You said, "Prospects (especially 4 year college guys) have been brought up sooner." You have the entire landscape of Major League Baseball - list 'em. Not ridiculous exceptions; not players from 10+ years ago... Recent prospects (especially 4 year college guys) that have been brought up sooner.

Exactly. And as Bregman completes the first 500 professional PAs, his numbers are in line with the first 500 professional PAs of Kemp, a four-year collegian who was a high draft pick.

So, are you arguing Bregman should be promoted on pedigree alone? Because, performance-wise, he's 2015 Tony Kemp.

I think the big difference here Hey Now, is that we are a team hoping to be in contention that is putting several guys in the lineup each day who are floundering greatly.

If we had guys at the corner infield spots hitting .260 with a .780 OPS, numbers that would be just below leave average for those spots, that would be one thing.

We are running out corner infield guys hitting

    .238/.731
    .228/.646
    .219/.704

So unless the organization believes that bringing up Bregman would somehow stunt his growth, there is no reason to not think he could at least improve on those numbers

Not to mention the fact that we are running out outfielders on a daily basis hitting

    .224/.700
    .190/.549
    .179/.496

So we aren't talking about a normal situation. Most teams that are running out guys like that have zero chance of being contenders. Especially when their "Ace" is sporting an era over 5.

I also think if their thinking was that Bregman would certainly not be coming to MMP this year under any circumstances, they wouldn't have started playing him at 3B some, especially this early in the season.

At least all of this Bregman talk has kept us from having to talk about playing the Rangers again tonight

Bregman has started his first full pro season in AA with an ops in the high .900's and 26 walks to 19 strikeouts in 44 games. Kemp played 72 games at High A Lancaster before reaching Corpus where he put up an .806 ops with 28 bb and 32 strikeouts in 59 games. Kemp wasn't even in the same stratosphere as a prospect as Bregman. This doesn't mean I want him called up right now. It just means that I think the comparison between Kemp and Bregman Hey now has given is somewhat misleading.

At a very cursory quick glance at only the 2015 rookies, you have:
    Kyle Shwarber (519 AB's)
    Michael Conforto (520 AB's)

Haven't looked at anything else... maybe somebody else can. I can't believe its truly that rare to have a 4 year college player come up as soon as Bregman could come up. And that's before considering the needs he would potentially fill (at a higher expectation than Kemp).... and while it could just be a total coincidence, the above players I mentioned were called up by teams with similar expectations and similar needs.

From all accounts, he's a superior fielder than Kemp was, and has more potential (higher ceiling, higher floor) at the plate.

How about getting off to a good start tonight, let's put up a crooked number in the first inning!

Would help take a little pressure off of us

    Would keep castrated-jero away

Would run the pitch count up on Yu, who is on a limit already and their pen can be had

Come on boys, let's do this tonight

    Amen

I'd take one guaranteed right now though.

Not splitting the first 2 games took some of the wind away.

We're capable of winning both to split 2-2.
