Huh? I've never seen that commercial. They should get McHugh in there too and say something like "I don't think anyone knows who good Carlos is going to be be."

My beloved pest, who made fun of me about wanting greinke on my team, and gave me some nice numbers, well, tonight he pitched 9 innings of no runs and 3 hit baseball, 8 wins and 3 loses.

Remember when i talked about matchup and many ridiculed the statement? Well, K vs Desmond was NOT a good matchup for us, i like Gregerson and his slider in that spot.

HInch does not play matchup, and that is why we lose so many 1 run games. Those moves are the ones that make the difference in close games. You have Neshek fresh. You have Sipp fresh. You have Gregerson fresh. In the 8th, play matchup

    Not good baseball

Not to mention K was 100+ pitches.

Dumb on many levels and we do lose plenty 1-runners.

I think Banister must have snuck into the Astros clubhouse after that game and beat the snot out of Hinch in front of the whole team.

Hinch will be going with the McHale'isms soon enough. "C'mon guys, we just need to play harder. Play better. *clap clap*".

Hell I bet even McHale walking on those horribly painful looking legs would have beat Banister's ass if there was a bench clearing brawl.

i'm not one to feed your incessant posting but there's definitely some truth in there... there were exactly zero reasons to bring keuchel back out there at that juncture.

it was such a boneheaded move that even one of my best friends, a lifelong rangers fan, text me immediately after the game thanking hinch for his ineptitude in leaving keuchel in the game at 107 pitches against the meat of their order.

So Jake ignored the bunt sign, hit away instead, and hit into the DP

sheesh, when you can't even hit .200 you might want to do what you are asked to do

THIS IS HE POOREST RAN FRANCHISE I EVER SEEN IN MY LIFE. IM A WIT'S END RIGHT NOW. I CANT TAKE IT ANYMORE. IM TIRED OF SEEING THIS TEAM ****ING SUCK WEEK IN AND WEEK OUT ON THIS GUY'S ****TY ASS COACHING.

Right. It was frustrating watching those guys come up short in the 90s against the Braves in the playoffs. It wasn't until Berkman came up with the team that the team started hitting in the playoffs. Berkman was a pretty clutch hitter.

Then Marisnick should NOT play for missing signs, enough of this team making mental errors and stupid mistakes that cost this team a lot of wins.
Coaching needs to be tougher and better if we want to win big games.
Make players responsible for their mistakes if not, YOU ARE RESPONSIBLE.

I don't even know what to say anymore. 2-16 over the last 17 games against them.

Over the last 2 years we are 108-87 (90 win pace)against the rest of the league, and 6-21 (36 win pace) against the Rangers. It isn't as if they are whipping or asses either, 4 of the last 5 have been one run losses. These are 2 extremely comparable teams and yet we can't f**king beat them.

I'm not really even agitated anymore because the last series against Texas squashed my outlook, but it's still demoralizing. Until we can at least win some games against this team, it's hard for me to get too excited, even with our recent success. And I'm one of the last guys that usually has a negative outlook, but the losses to them have been so constant over the last year. Every time we build some heat, the Rangers show up.

Well, we have a good 2 months to heat up again after this series since we won't see them again until August (thank goodness).

Maybe the whole team needs to go out in Deep Ellum and slump-bust the heck out of some nasty Dallas skanks to rid themselves of this curse. I'm talking the entire 25 man roster as well as coaches. Bring Luhnow along too just for good measure.

After that, they need to go Private Pyle on Hinch for sending Keuchel back out in the 8th.

AJ Hinch is the friendliest manager I've seen manage the Astros in a LONG time. Think about it, even Cecil Cooper wasn't this friendly. You think if Tom Herman or Bill O'Brien was coaching baseball they would be this friendly? Hell no.

    Are they really that comparable?

The Rangers have taken chances on the MLB team that the Astros either are unwilling or simply cannot afford to do.

They don't have 3-4 guys batting around .200 in the everyday lineup. They don't settle for bargain basement starting pitchers that struggle to maintain consistency (an area where the Astros absolutely should have spent more money on). They get production in the lineup first... and worry about defense later (hence why guys like Desmond and Profar continue to play, despite not being anywhere close to their natural positions). When their closer struggles in consecutive outings.... they immediately go to the next guy and don't wait for him to fail again.

I said it earlier... Daniels is clearly superior as a GM of an MLB team looking to contend. Luhnow has yet to prove whether he's much more than just a superior farm system reclamation guy... this season's adversity (and the necessary adjustments made) will go a long way to moving him into the war-time MLB GM chair (or maybe its simply the cost restraints that prevents him from making the moves he really desires to make).

If our results against the rest of baseball are of any significance, then yes we are at least comparable. Don't get me wrong, the Astros have flaws, but we have somehow managed to do pretty well against everybody else.
