How can it get worse? He's going to slip and call a woman something derogatory. He's going to call a black person a thug. Trust me, it's coming.
Half of the folks that I talked to earlier that would vote trump will not now after attacking a Mecican American. That was uncalled for and will have impacts. I'm off the Trump train. You can't say "Make America great again" when you demean and American because his parents are Mexican.
It will. The Republican Party may lose the West altogether. Trump, in my humble opinion, is advancing the day when even Texas will free itself from the clutches of the extremists that lead the GOP.
It's a clown show from the Republicans, but on the Democratic side, what you are seeing is the windup of a hard fought campaign by two strong candidates. Not a "clown show" at all. This is democracy in action. A cliché, sure, but true, nevertheless.
For sure, you have a socialist, a former Secretary of State that is being investigated by the FBI for mishandling classified information, and a con artist as the final 3. Apparently that's the best we can do. Perhaps the country should just fold now and save everyone the trouble.
So far, Republican U.S. Senators Sasse, Graham, and Kirk have said they will not vote for their own party's nominee. I imagine there will be more to come out against him. Trump is a historic mess.
I kind of wonder if he's hedging against the risk of Trump's election and having to work with him legislatively. Although "party before country" means as much when you consider House campaign funding. He does seem to be squandering an opportunity to re-frame party leadership towards Congress rather than the Presidency.
Wow. He's "never [gonna] let you down." So it's true: this is one gigantic rickroll. http://newyork.cbslocal.com/2016/06/07/donald-trump-rickroll/
There really does have to be something hidden behind his running. A lot of the specific things have been mentioned. But something just isn't right. I would assume he will go down in utter self implosion at some time during the next few months. And after that Clinton will probably be indicted a few weeks before the election. At that point even though Trump is polling 15 points behind he still wins. The country then goes into a deep economic depression. With China, North Korea, and Russia attacking the U.S. resulting in Nuclear War I. With 99.8% of the world's population dying off. And transgender people will finally (there's only a few hundred left) be able to pee and poo where they want, because conservatives will be too worried about nuclear fallout.
Welp, this is what we get. This is the end result of all the "anti-establishment" rhetoric the talk radio boobs have been spewing for the last year. Now even they're turning against Trump because of this latest embarrassment. And yes, there will be many more to come - the debates haven't even started yet, for ****s sake. We could have elected a sensible candidate (albeit not perfect...) like Kasich who would have wiped the floor with Hillary come November if the party would have just supported him. But NOOOOOOooooo, we had to elect an "outsider" because we all know the Republicans have just been giving Obama whatever he wants for the last 4 years, right? So we've got to SHOW them how MAD we are!!!!! By electing a complete buffoon who has literally no chance in November. What's unbelievable to me is that some people are actually surprised by all of this. Really? You honestly couldn't see this coming??
This dumbass attacked an american. His "because he is mexican" argument is so far left field I don't even know what to say. Criticism of Donald is against the law in his mind, anybody saying or doing something to affect him negatively is breaking the law or treating him unfairly. One of the most narcissistic and arrogant POS that's ever run for the office.
I was in a dinner party with a woman I know who is not particularly political but kinda well-disposed toward Trump -- wowed, it seems foremost, by his success as a businessman. But, a psychologist who was with us was opining on how Trump fits all the criteria of a narcissist (and only some of them for a sociopath), and the effect of seeding doubt on the Trump supporter was amazing. The Trump supporter was immune to arguments about how he might not be so great at business after all, that he was a racist and a misogynist, that his policy ideas were nonsensical. But putting his pattern of behavior in a diagnostic framework seemed to have pierced the armor and made her wonder if Trump might actually be dangerous. It's just an anecdote, but I wonder if there is something there for finding effective ways to deprogram Trump supporters. It's not a clown show, but I wouldn't say they are strong candidates either. They are both challenged in significant ways. 2008 John McCain would have clocked either of them. Even 2012 Romney might have. Clinton is only strong relative to the clown show on the other side of the aisle.
I want to agree, in that both Dem candidates have major weaknesses, but it's such a tough apples and oranges proposition you're making here. Would 2008 McCain still choose one of the worst VP candidates in modern American history? Would he flounder and flail during a financial crisis? (Clinton would have been pretty steely during the 2008 business, by comparison.) Obama was a great campaigner but McCain (or his campaign perhaps) just imploded.
Tea Party rhetoric, 2010 - 2015: "Government is broken because of politicians! We should elect outsiders who have no governing experience to shake up DC!" Trump Party rhetoric, 2015-present: "The Tea Party outsiders we elected didn't get anything done! DC is a cartel! Even that Cruz fella became part of the establishment, so should elect a man who's never held any elected office and has no understanding of Constitutional government! That'll surely fix things!" It's basically a nihilistic feedback loop at this point. They're told nonstop that government is broken, so they elect people who don't even believe that government should exist to fix their broken government. Government continues to be broken, previous "outsiders" are voted out for even more extreme candidates. Then you get Trump. Rinse, wash, repeat.
But the Republican party has created this mess by demonizing the left so much that it has gotten their constituents to be radicalized to the point of not willing to compromise or pick candidates willing to compromise. The net result is that a guy like Kasich could never have won the nomination - if not him it would have been Cruz.
Rick Perry Ted Cruz Texas has its own issues with electing idiots. The last thing we need to do is secede and let them completely control our state.
