you got to anything to break the spell of ishtiness. I'm not condoning violence but if a ball gets away from you and accidentally hits hodor in the face then so be it. don't stay classy.
Sucks to lose last night and Rangers have owned us (and are our daddy, for now), but we're right there in winning most of these games. I wouldn't bet we win tonight against Hamels, but we did beat CLE's pitcher (Kluber?), who usually owns us, and did well against Gray two games ago. Hamels didn't own in his last start. Stros could very well win tonight. We just need to play a little more solidly. We pretty much away 2 runs 1st inning yesterday and Correa's bobble didn't help. But remember, Rangers messed up before Altuve's bomb. Just play a ltitle more solid. We can still split this series.. unfortunately, wouldn't mind just avoiding a sweep. Edit- Nevermind that Hamels comment. just looked it up. Keuchel needs to pitch well today. Bats will score a few runs.
He's good, very good... when there's no pressure of expectations. For now, it just seems like he doesn't handle pressure well. He's showing baby steps. He sucked to begin year, then improved. Then, his first save opp a couple games ago, he surrendered a run. We still won the game, so it was overlooked. They need to pitch him 6th-8th (non-save), for now.

I respect that. They need to start stirring the pot a bit with the Rangers. Start off with that drama queen Andrus yesterday who gave that hard look in after Fiers left one in on accident. Give him something up and in tomorrow. We need to make these games emotional, much like when the Blue Jays did in the playoffs.
I have no interest in wading through pages and pages and pages and pages of "woe is me; the sky is falling" whining - so please help me out: are people blaming Giles for last night? Is that really the talking point? Or is this just the usual post-loss cangrejero rhetoric?
He's been on the Giles bash train since it left the station at the beginning of the season. Of course he waits till after last nights events to pile on and tout the highly rated Hoyt.
Except 3 days ago you wanted him to be the new closer. Another day another flip-flop I could post several others from just 3 days ago where you are talking about how great Giles is. You wonder why people talk at you, it's because you post all the time and say whatever seems to be the sentiment of the moment and it frustrates them to waste time reading that crap.
The latter, see my post above. Although there are some others that blame Giles, regardless of the fact we were 1/5 with a runner on 3rd and less than 2 outs.
And the fact he coaxed a near textbook perfect double-play ball that would have ended the inning had Correa not botched it. I mean... he still gave up the hit to Odor - but, man - to be out of the inning (and the heart of their order) only to have your defense massively fail you... I can't crush Giles too much for that.
There's so much blame to go around for yesterday's loss, I don't wanna single anybody out. Truly a team effort. Defensive miscues, mediocre pitching, failing to get guys home with less than 2 outs. A ton of things went our way, the Rangers were throwing the ball around and trying to give the game away themselves. To lose a game like that hurts.
Yeah, it was rather shocking to see the Rangers play, well - a lot like us. I'm not going to signal any moral victories - but... that loss last night looked a lot different that previous losses, where, too often, we didn't even look like we belonged on the same field. We matched their runs with our own; we took leads, lost leads, regained leads... if there wasn't such a history of pure dominance, I'd say those two teams last night looked evenly matched and would be somewhat encouraged. I honestly thought it was over after Fiers spotted them 3 in the 1st.
My friend, let me give you numbers, ok???? Season, 5.79 ERA with 1.60 whip, AWFUL Is he improving? Last 14 days, 5.40 ERA with a whip of 1.80 Last 28 days, 2.92 ERA with a whip of 1.49 Last year he had a whip of 1.20 I don't have to see the numbers but i bet you that at least 5 relievers last year had whip's under 1.20 (Gregerson, Sipp, Harris, Neshek, Fields, and maybe even Qualls. I judge pitchers with whip, especially relievers and for me, a reliever with a 1.20 whip i don't trust, especially a "closer" or late inning pitcher. Sorry, but i don't like Giles. Hoyt has a 0.786 whip in triple a, HE SHOULD BE IN THE MAJORS NOW.
Plenty of blame to go around, including Giles. Some of y'all are acting like relievers have carte blanche to give up as many more hits and runs as they please just because there was a defensive miscue in their inning.
That happens when i try and be "positive" on players even when numbers say otherwise. Ok, don't worry, i will be consistent and don't say good things on guys even when they do well, so you don't accuse me of flip flop. Is like Gomez, he had a good game, i gave credit to the guy and Hinch, but I STILL THINK HE SUCKS. I "thought" Giles was doing good UNTIL I SAW THE NUMBERS, and he has not done much the whole year. the whip continues very high, so i am sorry if i said Giles was doing better, I WAS WRONG, after i saw the numbers, still Mr. WHIP all over. Last year 6 relievers of the Astros had lower whips. I look at whip's, and Mr. Giles has been consistent, since last year of having a high Whip, I DONT LIKE THAT.
