While i give Ryan credit for calling out Trump for his racist statement, I also note that he continues to endorse him. Ryan knows this isn't Trump's only offensive statement and should know that Trump is a horrible candidate President, but... party before country.

'Hispanic' is a piece of demographic data that surveys can more easily leverage. Getting data on favorability among Mexican-Americans would be a bit a custom job and cost extra. And, I'm not aware of anyone who has done one like that. But, it's probably safe to say that Hispanics is at least useful as a proxy for the attitudes of Mexican-Americans since we lack more specific data. If anything, one would expect a study among Mexican-Americans to show even less favorability among that group. It may be the only reason that Trump's favorability among Hispanics is as high as it is is that it's buttressed by Hispanic people who haven't been insulted yet (with heritages from Central or South America, the Caribbean, or American Hispanics who don't identify with other countries).

I get the feeling Ryan is going to have to do this a lot this campaign cycle. "I disavow Mr. Trump's remarks, but I urge you to vote for him anyway."

Ryan's response was slow. Was he running on CP time?

    Who comes out looking worse?

The racist idiot, Trump, or the "Damn that's racist but....I'm voting for him anyway" Paul Ryan?

Once, as a professional pol, you get on the Trump train, it should follow you for life, IMO.

Trump isn't a republican... he just happened to win the republican nomination. If Hilary weren't already the anointed one, a socialist would have won the democratic party.

I think people might be fed up?

Hillary spent more of her life as a Republican than Trump has. Trump is a life long liberal that is pretending to be what he thinks a conservative is in order to seize power preying on the stupidity of the American people and the weakness of the opposition candidates.

There isn't a good option in this election among the 2 major party nominees but anything is better than Trump.

Has Graham ever supported Trump? I do give Graham credit for clearly stating his position but I suspect most conservatives will pass off Graham's statement as another RHINO move by Graham.

This editorial by Jonah Goldberg, a leading conservative writer, calling out Rick Perry's flip flop from "Trump is a cancer to conservatism" to "I will do anything I can to help get Trump elected ("please choose me for VP... please!"). "

'Course, I won't be shocked when Goldman sells out to the pro-Trump crowd...

Bobby makes a good point. It does seem as if Trump is just playing a giant caricature of a right-wing nut that irks all of us liberals.

"Misconstrued"? So Trump is now a racist, a liar, and a weasel.

It is just wonderful to sit back and laugh at this whole mess. And for those who think Donald Trump actually has a chance to win the election, you are forgetting one simple fact:

    Donald Ain't Done.

If you think you've heard the worst of Trump, guess again. He just can't help himself. He will continue to stick his foot in his mouth so deep that he's kicking turds out the wazoo. I mean, it's simply amazing to watch.

And whether you hate Hillary or not, what you're going to get during the debates is you're going to get the Hillary Clinton you got at the Benghazi hearings. Donald doesn't have a chance.

I actually feel sorry for all the decent Republicans out there. You truly didn't deserve this. This is just the lowest moment for that party in terms of Presidential nominees. Hopefully, Clinton defeats him so soundly that the Republican voters realize you can certainly elect a nominee who is an outsider without also being a lunatic.

I'm not saying this to be condescending- I really do feel for the well-meaning, decent Republicans who have to put up with this infant representing them.

How is it going to get worse? Trump made a racist comment to a Federal Judge. I'm not sure what worse he's going to do. The problem is that his supporters will forgive anything, or don't see anything to forgive.
