Since I know Daryl Morey is a frequent visitor to Clutchfans, we need to throw out some LEGITIMATE prospects in the 2nd round, where the Rockets are due to pick. And if Daryl just by happens to review this thread, remember Daryl, we need players with LENGTH, similar to OKC, to beat GS!!! Although OKC fell short, to me they lost the series, rather than GS beating them. However, back to the 2016 NBA Draft. I think we need more players with length, shooting and high upside. We do not need the Luther Heads, Chuck Hayes and PLEASE no more Joey Dorsey's of the world! (I'm still dumbfounded on why you chose Dorsey over DeAndre Jordan) But here we go: #37 - Petr Cornelie - 6'11" PF/C Great SIZE, can run the floor, plays hard on both ends of the floor, block shots and is good from 3 - point range. #43 - Brandon Austin - 6'6" Point Guard. First of all, I know he's not on many draft boards but dude can FLAT OUT PLAY!! Good handles, good court vision, good from 3-point range and YES HE HAS SIZE! He was arrested twice for sexual assault but he was never convicted and if you chose Royce White in round 1, surely you can give this guy a try in round 2. Let's Go Rockets!!
i'd go after bpa. or if there's a good shooter get him. like we did with daniels, and hope the "build his strengths, work on his weaknesses" plan pans out
We have Mike D'Antoni now. They're going to be playing small under him. Remember D'Antoni's system is a fast pace offense. He plays small ball. So no more big men, sorry.
Well, at least we know he'll get up for the occasion and not have anxiety about it! But we all know that after Round 1, it's a crap shot and Morey's BPA is more than likely a 6'6" Power forward/C. And for those who are saying we need small players to play SMALL BALL, that's not true! It's players who can play fast and stretch the floor. OKC's best Small Ball lineup included 6'11 Durant at the 4 and 6'10 Serge Ibaka at the 5.
I don't see how Cornelie will still be in the second round. Anyway I like Cornelie, LeVert, Hammons and Payton.
He's the perfect Big for D'Antoni's system. Athletic, runs the floor, plays hard on both ends and although still somewhat raw, he's shooting 40% from 3. He's probably a year away but I don't think the Rockets are winning a Championship next year, unless we get blessed and get Durant in free agency. But if we can get him and Bandon Austin, the accused rapist by some on the board, I think we will increase our talent level immensely.
Malcolm Brogdon is intriguing. I don't follow college bball, though, so I don't know much about prospects projected to go in the second round.
I want a 3 and D guy with at least one of our 2nds. Michael Gbinije of Syracuse fits the bill. Could be a Trevor Ariza type.
