Lol...knew someone would go cherry picking comments like these from earlier in the year. I still stand by my comments at the time. I like Springer, always has. He's very streaky and is on one of his hotter streaks. He can carry a club when he's on one of his streaks. Keep cherry picking statuses though.
I think it's fine to say nothing about a fairly typical type of slump (it's not like he was going Gomez on us) when you're someone who posts fairly often. It's kind of an acknowledgement that slumps happen, guys are streaky, we don't need to get overly worried about a month, he's still young and improving, etc.
Somewhat agreed... just saying if you feel the need to LOL about certain comments, you should let your thoughts be known beforehand. Not come back later on and act as if you KNEW all along. #hindsightlikeitis

Y'all are tripping. Even when he is not hitting well, Springer is contributing in the outfield and he is amazing for the clubhouse chemistry. Y'all deserve to be called out for dogging him.
I don't know. Pointing out concern and problems shouldn't make a fan seem like a hater. It's just making observations about what appears to be going wrong when the team and players are struggling. That's apart of coming on message boards. I'm enjoying the current hot streak and just want for any of the teams I root for to be at their best like any other fan.
I'm sorry but a good portion of the posts when players are struggling are "X player is a scrub" or "X player is pathetic". Not a lot of substantive convo going on. Even the Golden Child of Correa has already been deemed overrated by some on this message board, which I think is beyond ridiculous. Given your earlier statements about Springer, what would you say we should expect from him going forward? I don't think Springer has Correa upside but I do think he can be a top piece for a WS Championship team. I think it's also important to remember that Springer has still only played in about a year 1/2 worth of MLB games.
Well he better stay healthy because he's not getting any younger. He'll be 27 years old this September.
Yeah, he has to stay healthy. If he does I think he can be a key piece for years to come just as Correa, Bregman, and others reach their prime. He'll lose some athleticism but he'll still be a damn good player.

Everybody expresses themselves differently. If people are put off by how others express their frustrations, that's what the ignore button is for. As far as expectation of Springer, I think if he can stay healthy, he can hit .275 to .285 and 30 plus HRs and close to 100 or so RBIs. He has great talent. He doesn't play smart at times, especially on the base paths, but he can definitely be a key piece on a contender with his bat and defense. The key with Springer is health. I also agree his upside is not as high as highly touted Correa or fellow highly touted and younger outfielders like Trout, Harper, etc. People have been saying Correa has the potential to be the best player in the game in his prime. Springer is already 26 going on 27 years old so we may be starting to see Springer getting into his prime right now.
Springer is incredibly good and seems to be entering his prime based on his mastery of the strike zone. Correa and Altuve are still our best players simply because they play positions where offense is at an extreme scarcity. Gattis too is incredibly valuable at catcher.
Really is amazing how many people were underselling Springer. He's been awesome since him came up, and he seems like he has put it all together to elevate himself. He's a bit streaky, but most players are that way. Even when he's in a hitting slump, his speed defense and clubhouse presence really helps the club. His only problem has been freak injuries. Anybody that was saying he was decent and nothing more weren't paying attention, or weren't that knowledgeable. Still not ready to classify him as elite, need a bigger sample, but he is an extremely good player, that much is inarguable.
The guy had barely played over 1 seasons worth of games when you made your statements of him being overrated and not living up to the hype (which given his improvement from 2014 to 2015 was an asinine statement for somebody still figuring it out). If you want to overreact and go apoplectic about a player when he's struggling... When several here pointed out exactly why Springer was worth the time/attention he was given... Be prepared to own up to it when over the proper sample size of games, water finds its level. There's just too many ups and downs within a season of baseball. Nobody (teams included) is as good as their highs, and nobody is as bad as their lows. It's why career numbers and track records are what they are... Hell, I did the same thing earlier with Fiers, and was happy to give him all the credit in the world for hanging in this game and going 6 (which given this bullpen, should always be enough... Minus Hinch sticking with the wrong closer).
I think the concept of baseball is hard to grasp for the younger millennials. Patience is not one of their virtues and baseball is a sport of ups and downs. It truly is a marathon and a mental grind.
Since last year I've been saying Feliz and VV in late situations for the astros. This year Hinch continues to use Feliz wrong. Yesterday, with a 3 run lead was a great spot to use Feliz in the 9th, but no, Hinch uses a guy that has pitched a lot lately and did not had much yesterday.
