Harden would never make 11 3PTs in a game, but Klay would never get a triple double.

And great defense. When people talk about Harden's "all-around game" relative to Klay, for some reason defense isn't counted as part of the equation.

I think Harden is the better offensive player, but once defense is considered, the overall comparison is pretty close.

Writers and NBA people around the league have spoken in their ALL NBA team voting, not sure why some people here can't see the Forest through the trees.

Harden is a GREAT offensive player, but he is not a complete player, he needs to play defense, and get better.

He could be an ALL TIME GREAT - but he has to work at it - and show effort, particularly on D - doesn't have to be lock down, just guard his man and stop being a saloon door.

And, I would still consider trading Harden for Thompson - probably would do it, as I prefer a team oriented approach, than what we have now.

Klay isn't, Harden isn't, Butler isn't, Paul George isn't. Not sure who is at the moment, tough call.

On offense end, you have to consider that Klay depends on his shooting, but Harden depends on calls. Shot may or may not fall, but it's in his hand, calls are on ref, and as we see in playoffs, ref allows more physical play in playoff games. So we really need to surround shooters with Harden, so he can pass it out quickly when he is doubled.

This forum really under appreciates Harden's last season. He was phenomenal and arguably better than any other guard in the league. Sure he seemed to regress defensively, but think about how the rest of the roster regressed to put into perspective.

There defense is about equal if you look at any defensive metric

Thompson is a far better defender than Harden, that's half of the total package.

I'd give Harden a big edge on the offensive end until this playoff when Thompson started to put the ball on the floor, and make better decisions while get inside. Obviously, Thompson is a much better shooter, better off the ball. But Harden still has the edge because he is better with the ball, just more complete offensive player at this stage.

If Thompson continues the trend of improving his decision making with the ball, he will be very close to where Harden is offensive.

Thompson also moves without the ball perfectly. freaking Harden rarely ever does anything but stand by the 3pt line. that's our coaching problem too tho

You honestly think GSW would have had that come back and close out if you switch out Thompson with Harden? Harden would have been a bricker and not been able to drive or do much else since the defender would back off and wait for him to drive. Thompson shot is truer when it counts is the overall better player when it matters, the Play Offs.

Harden's a great shooter idiot. He just doesn't get open shots because there's no one to create them for him.

He shot over 40% on open 3's this year.

Maybe harden should move without the basketball then rather than stand around. How many shots does Klay get when hes just standing around?

You cannot just single out one game. This is probably the best game of Thompson's career, but Harden had some monster offensive games as well.

I think most would agree that Harden is a more completed offensive player, but Thompson is far better defender, and an all-time great shooter, and better play off the ball.

Put Klay on a team where he has to carry the load by himself and you're not going to get the same player
