Luke, shut it down! Also, post-yesterday shoutout to Devenski for saving the 'pen for today in the blowout
Gotta get that win tomorrow, can't lose many series now. Keuchel has had a few great starts this year, and every time I hope that's the one that gets him going. The team is gonna struggle to do anything if he isn't good, just hoping for the best from him at this point. Not expecting it anymore though. I think Hinch has managed the pen well here in recent games. With 3 straight recently, and a day game tomorrow, I think it was smart to try and avoid using Giles and Harris. Neshek continues to dominate right handed hitters, so a tandem of him and Sipp is a combo I'm fairly comfortable with for an inning.
The streaking of the hitters is annoying. Springer and Valbuena get hot, Altuve and Correa go cold. On average, only Springer and Altuve are hitting above 250. That's pathetic.
we should move correa to the no.1 spot to get him going or hinch can create a new order of #1, #1.1 and #1.11, where all three players believe they're batting first.
Good game by Keuchel. Still think he should sit a couple weeks. He's obviously tired from last season due to his down velocity. Just skip him a couple of starts. If the team can't manage without his services for 2 weeks, we suck anyway. His rest would benefit us more in the long run instead of squeezing-in his pitching every opportunity.
No, really it wasn't Two different issues completely Giving up a HR to Trout doesn't make someone a poor pitcher I just worry that Keuchel hasn't rebounded from the work load last year and could benefit from less work. I especially hate the games when he is obviously struggling to throw strikes and Hinch lets him run his pitch count up to 100+ anyway, those would be the perfect games to not work him so much Glad to see he had a nice game last night One thing is for sure, without him pitching like a true ace we have little chance of getting back into it
As a lifelong Houston sports fan - you really think the sports gods were going to allow the Astros to have "the best young player" in baseball? That's not how this works, that's not how any of this works.
Correa day off. <blockquote class="twitter-tweet" data-lang="en"><p lang="en" dir="ltr">Today's Astros lineup vs. Nick Tropeano <a href="https://t.co/mIQL9FFPc5">pic.twitter.com/mIQL9FFPc5</a></p>— Jake Kaplan (@jakemkaplan) <a href="https://twitter.com/jakemkaplan/status/736968147136176128">May 29, 2016</a></blockquote> <script async src="//platform.twitter.com/widgets.js" charset="utf-8"></script>
I cannot believe these guys are getting days off in the midst of the season we are having. Time to bring the lunch pail and go to work. If nothing, they ought be putting in extra time in the batting cage too.
