I'll give MDA 11 games before I pass judgment lol. Personally I don't like the hire at all IMHO and a lot will now ride on who they hire as an assistant to help with the defense as that was the rockets biggest issue going into the off season. I'm still a huge rockets fan at heart and competitive by nature so I'll still root for my rockets period. But the MDA hiring is a tough pill to swallow.
And to think folks were worried about hiring Scott Brooks. Brooklyn - Kenny Atkinson Cleveland - Ty Lue Houston - Mike Anthony Indiana - Nate McMillan Los Angeles - Luke Walton Memphis - David Fizdale Minnesota - Tom Thibodeau New York - Jeff Hornacek Orlando - Frank Vogel Phoenix - Earl Watson Sacramento - Dave Joerger Washington - Scott Brooks
So Les thinks Tony's "expertise" will inspire players to "produce" "defensively"? How did Les make his money again?
Well when you drag the process for so long and are left with nothing but bottom of the barrel filth like Mike Anthony, Byron Scott, Kevin McFail, BJ Buggerstaff and a bunch of unknowns, then you leave yourself with little to no choice Not a fan of Mike Anthony at all but he is probably one of the best of this filthy bunch. Just threw up putting Mike ANthony and best in the same sentence
Hope this team is either Top 3 seed in playoffs or draft next year. Anything but mediocre. Top 3 in playoffs means MDA is somehow working and we're actually contenders, top 3 in draft means we have a chance to draft a great piece for the furture and MDA should be out shortly.
Other than the Ty Lue hire, all those coaching hires symbolize the direction of those teams. That is the biggest problem I have the Dantoni hire. It is a massive symbol of what Les wants this team to be, and completely ignores the massive amount of problems from last year that needed to be fixed. More than anything this offseason, the Houston Rockets needed a PR refresh to show the world that we took last seasons disaster to heart, and we are serious about righting the ship, and changing the culture. Here is the message other teams sent out from their coaching hire- Minn/Thibs - This team is going to be really really good LA/Walton - Young team with talent. Want a coach to grow with players NY/Horn - A team that is struggling to show their fans/league that they are serious by making quality hire and not just a big name Mem/Fiz - Mia/Pat Riley disciple to keep the strong def mindset, but issue in new young refreshed mindset. Probably symbolizes that they are in for a rebuild but want to install the culture that carries over to next gen. then there is Houston Hou/MikeD - Says we actually don't think we are bad at defense, and want to double down on offense. We also could care less about chemistry and culture. Funny thing is nearly every other coaching candidate they interviewed that Morey put in front of Les symbolized something completely different... most of those direction would have been "Young up and coming SMART coach with defensive mindset"..... F$%# you Les.
True lol But to be honest, i don't see a lot of better coaches around, 3 in this list are better but the rest is just "meh", maybe even more "meh" than Pringles...
You think it was a coincidence the organization decided to float out the D'Antoni hire the same day as the Baylor news broke? Me neither.
You think there has ever been a coaching hire that was disliked by almost nine out of ten fans? I know the McHale hiring wasn't very popular... but I don't think it was anywhere as opposed as the D'Antoni hire. Imagine if the team is slow out of the blocks...
He made most of his fortune by owning a Private Student Loan company. Just shows the guy is probably a complete crook. Im sure they all aren't bad, but I would say from the confusing paperwork given to 18 year olds, and the interest rate hikes, etc. that it can be one of the most unethical businesses in the country IMO. No surprise Les made his fortune by pulling a fast one on those who don't know any better.
He'll get even less money next offseason on a contract. It's better for him to sign a longer deal sooner rather than later.
Obviously Les Alexander is not a person who accesses or perhaps even is aware the internet exists. CF poll with high participation almost 90% against. Heck you couldn't get most of CF to agree on any subject but the core fan base has spoken.
Imagine how much more of a laughingstock the organization will be if Stephan Silas goes on to have success as a head coach elsewhere. I didn't know much about Silas but I was excited by the prospect of thinking outside of the box. Now I'm resigned to upcoming seasons of making the playoffs for the sake of making the playoffs, no serious ring contention, and the utter waste of a legitimate franchise player's prime.
