Same with Gregerson, if he presumably pitches the 9th... unless Hinch just wanted Harris for the best of that lineup, and is willing to go to Neshek or Sipp for the save.
Giles gets his first save chance tomorrow? Just saw a tweet that we are first team since 1913 to K 15+ in 3 straight games. Wild.
Point taken. I think what we can both agree on is that the kid is exciting and we can't wait to see what he does with the big club... now or later...
curious how many are evened out by Gattis/White/etc. warning track blasts I've seen some of so far (feel like I've seen more of them hit to deep center than Correa, Springer...though Altuve has hit a fair share to RC)
I don't know about "should have"...but it was possible for someone who's as good as he is at least. Let's go Ken--shut it down here.
Was still rocketed... Harris/Giles didn't look that great on their 3rd nights in a row... But still managed to get the job done.
He really didn't.... No K's and some hard hit balls. 3rd appearance in 3 nights, but if it mentally helps him that he got a 9th inning save op, so be it. Anybody seen Devenski? Did they leave him at Fenway? Is he trapped in the green monster?
no shame in giving up a hits to kamikaze and machado. great win. Pitching is on point with everyone, almost everyone.
But yet you are convinced of Gregerson? My premise is that they need a better option. Whether it's Giles, Feliz, or Harris.... Chances are it will take care of itself, but Gregerson will probably need to blow a few more saves. This bullpen has a chance to be something really special. 4 potential closers, 3 other quality pitchers.
The upgrade from Luke was needed last year and is still needed now. But now it is his job since he "won" it in spring training. Being a closer is different mentally than being a setup man. We can't assume one a pitcher will pitch in the 9th, the same way he's been pitching in the 8th.Giles has to be Harris-like and Hinch needs to be convinced he is ready for the closer role. Tonight didn't hurt his case much but it sure didn't help. Luke only gave up one run in his last three blown saves.
