I like Harris, i also said last year, and this year that Feliz should be used in big situations as set up man.

Now, if we are NOT able to win the division or wild card, then he should go to the rotation and see if he is a starter.

I already know he is a tough reliever who SHOULD be used in late innings, big situations. Now, we have to learn if he is going to start or relieve.

For as long as baseball has been played, players have lost contact with the base by fractions of an inch. There is no reason to call them out in that situation. If it's egregious, call them out.

Altuve goes cold (0-13), but Springer, Gattis and Valbeuna warm up a bit.

    Thats baseball.

Astros tied with the Mets and Royals for best bullpen in baseball (by WAR). Prettay good.

First glance at the player list reminded me of the 5 pitcher no hitter vs NYY.

If Gomez comes back from Corpus like Gattis has, then we need to start sending everyone down there.

Colby Rasmus might be the best character the astros have had since Jose Cruz.

This seriously may be my favorite promotion of all time. I can't ever remember needing to go to a game for a giveaway. Would have been nice if he were holding the bottle, but still awesome nonetheless. Even the freaking commercial for it was one of the best.

The coca-cola value nights ,which have always been one of the best deals dating all the way back to the dome, are the only promotion that comes close.

As much as I loved the 03 Lidge-Dotel-Wagner bullpen.... this year's crop, from top to bottom, has a chance to be even better.

I'm including Devenski (who was very good initially) and Sipp (who is looking to get back to his previous level of production) in that equation. You also add Feldman who has been stellar (with even better stuff) out of the bullpen, and you legitimately have 7 guys who have favorable expectations when they are in there.

Don't think I've ever watched an Astros team that had all 7 members of the bullpen with expectations to succeed every time each one of them was on the mound... but that is exactly what we have this year.

I've had my tickets for this game since they went on sale. We are sitting on the 2nd row in the bullpen boxes. My kids both wanted to go for the promotion, and they have no idea we are going.

I'm not sure why, but I totally agree....except for my cousin who didn't plan her wedding around Astros promotion nights.

After last night's start, McHugh has a 3.49 FIP and his K-BB ratio's are right in line with his recent seasons. Likewise his LD and Hard hit rates are the same as well. The only difference is opponents are currently sporting a .385 BABIP.

He looks fine to me, he actually looked better than fine last night despite the ultimately only decent results. If we just keep running him out there that BABIP will regularzie and he will end up having another good year. Unlike Keuchel, he never looked broken to me, he just had some tough results.

Very good point. Managing a bullpen is so tricky. Sometimes a closer doesn't find his spot in the 9th until someone else fails or gets injured. After Wagner left, Lidge was the setup guy for Dotel, and was amazing in that 8th inning. Dotel had a few blown saves so they tried Lidge to close in the 9th and he never looked back. Dotel was then part of the Beltran trade.

Feliz, Harris, Giles, could all be potential shut down closers, but they won't have their shot until they get that 9th inning chance.

It was so disappointing that the had such a great start yesterday, but gave up 3 runs in only 5.1 IP. He's definitely closer to turning his season around than Dallas is, though Dallas has a sub 4 FIP as well.

Or in Giles case, becomes a closer again, for the second time in his career.

Its not really tricky. The guy with the best stuff overall, especially if its swing/miss stuff, should be groomed. Gregerson is not some long-time closer that has been entrenched in the position. He's a set-up guy by trade... and was the closer by default last year. While he didn't fail, he wasn't one of the better closers... and still isn't.

As it is right now... the guy with the best stuff is Feliz. Still probably needs more seasoning, as well as a mental assessment, before being given the job... but he's done quite well in the high leverage situations.

In the end, its an abundantly good problem to have when your current closer is probably your 4th best reliever.

Why isn't Bergman up already. He has college experience. He isn't 19. He is crushing double AA pitching just bring him to the show.
