Damn, that was a good throw by Gattis. Impressed.

The flip side is these guys are working in their roles as is.. in some respects, Hinch has more flexibility in high leverage, non-9th inning situations.

even when Correa is hitting he neutralizes it with that boneheaded steal attempt

Surely you can't cover the base with your glove like that.

I hate the use of replay to look for the millisecond when you might have come off the bag. Just a complete waste of time.

Wtf are you thinking stealing 3rd when arguably your hottest hitter is up to bat???? I just don't get it.

I wouldn't say Gregerson is necessarily working right now... blown 3 out of his last 4 save attempts, and had the 9th inning meltdown against Seattle prior to that. He also didn't look great last night.

The one-run save is really where you need the full value of a solid closer... most bullpen guys can rack-up gaudy save numbers by getting the 3 run variety. I know some managers are loyal to a fault... and will only wait till you have a lot of negative results prior to making a move, and Hinch seems to be no exception.

I prefer the preventative approach, acting/reacting BEFORE the repeated poor outings... ah well, hope Luke has it tonight.

Agree w Nick... Luke is far from our best option at closer now but for whatever (non)reason hinch keeps trotting him out there bc.... Hinch.

Hinch would have re-inserted Wally Pipp into the lineup when he came back from injury... #loyalty. ;)

Luke is not bad. He has given up no runs in his last three outings. He has given up more than one run only once this month.

3 blown saves and, one 9th inning tie game meltdown, in a month is not good.

He's a solid bullpen pitcher... but a fairly mediocre closer.

Yes that's what you're looking for in your closer... "Not bad"

He's a mediocre closer... No need to cherry pick stats.

Good job Luke.... glad I brought all that negative energy to be fully prepared for a blown save, but very pleasantly happy with a solid 1 run save.
