I'd prefer we quit handing out max deals and start building through the draft. Wouldn't it be better to acquire younger talent that doesn't require 20+ mil contracts for several years instead of tying up all our cap space in 2 or 3 players? And that's assuming we can even manage to convince those guys to sign here.

You do not build through the draft and make the playoffs at the same time.

Beal would be some nice firepower on the team, however he plays the same position as Harden. I don't like the idea of either trying to guard or play the point.

funny thing is you can probably get Gordon, a FA, this summer for a fraction of what Beal costs.

Compared to the rest of the "max" contract players this summer, Beal is definitely one of the best choices. Still very young, with star potential left. However, his injuries aren't so innocent as you describe. They are actually very risky.
And besides the Wizards have no reason to take our crap for him, since they will have plenty of capspace, and even if they wanted to do a s+t for him there will be multiple teams willing to offer much better assets than we have.

Still would choose to max him, instead of someone like Derozan or Barnes or Fournier.

true and still relatively young at 28 but then again with a terrible injury history.

There have been may reports that his MPG is going to be limited for the rest of his career because of the numerous stress fractures in his right leg.

He's a solid (but overrated) young player who could have possibly been a all-star, but I'm staying far away from him with his injury history.

I still say if you want a player like him, you can sign Eric Gordon for $5-6 million a year to be your 6th man.

Do not want if not healthy.

But Harden at the 3 and Beal at the 2 would be interesting.

2 6'5 SG's maxed out on the same team. Sounds great!

Beal nor harden is a PG so why sign him at max again?

We may not make the playoffs regardless. We're not better than the Warriors, Spurs, Thunder, or Clippers(when healthy). We're likely not better than Utah or Portland next season. If the Kings can ever get their collective crap together, they've got a helluva good player in Cousins to build around. Same goes for the Pelicans. And the T'Wolves have a lot of young talent and a great coach in Thibs to bring it all together(maybe not next year, but definitely the year after).

Either way, we're at best a 7th or 8th seed barring another MVP season from Harden or hitting the jackpot in free agency. I'd rather go for ping pong balls than get humiliated in the first round again if those are my choices.

I don't have a problem with his production vs cost, what I have a problem with is that he has a severely entitled, distorted view of himself and that's generally a very informative trait when assessing players.

As an asset if we strike out on other people, I'd give it a shot. But it doesn't really excite me in any way.

Goron Dragic is not the player Beal is. So that would be a downgrade

Harden is shooting guard that plays PG. So actually you'd have Harden setting up and Beal running around screens getting open. We just active bodies for rebounds and defense
