So, they are stealing from Wanted? League of Assassins starts out by receiving names from their mystical source, but then start picking their own targets.
Inititally, didn't she want to become an assassin to take out the people on her list? I can only figure that Arya is not as brainwashed as she leading on and she is using them to hone her skills as a cold blooded killer. When she has learned enough, she's going to go do some assassin stuff on the people that have hurt her family...but not before she burns the house of the Many Faced God to the ground.
Didn't catch the last two episodes until Sunday, but read all the comments here. Sorry, late to the game. Just want to add my take on the Dany fire. I didn't think it was anything weird regarding how fast the fire spread, until reading the comments. She's elevated. And those fire pots are filled with oil. The flaming oil pours out as the pots crash to the floor from a elevated height, and splash everywhere. I don't think help from a conspirator is even necessary. She knows the layout. Now, how they safely film a fake scene of flaming oil splashing everywhere might not be as accurate as possible, but I believe that's the sole source of the fuel. The wood support columns are likely very dry from that desert climate, too, so would go up like kindling. Original ancient oil lamps didn't have wicks...and fire temples had these big pots. The oil is likely just a vegetable oil like olive oil, or maybe animal fat. In fact, here's a youtube of how olive oil will light and burn in a bowl for a long time. Oh, and I'd recognize those t*tties anywhere, too. Not fake. <iframe width="560" height="315" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/ot4o6mBFAgs" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe>
The Faceless Men pay for their temples by carrying out hits. If the price is paid, they will deliver the gift. It is known. Also, GRRM has some tropes of his own despite being billed a trope buster: Religion is bad and WMDs are bad. The White Walkers were created by the Children of the Forest to be their WMD in a holy war against men. OOPS! Dragons have been historically the WMDs of the Targaryans. They brought them power at the expense of thousands of lives. The Vale wasn't burned because their leaders were in awe of the WMDs and the North didn't burn because their leaders were in fear of WMDs. I don't expect that the Faceless Men religion will turn out to be any better than all the other religions that GRRM shows us are bad and I don't think either the Dragons or the White Walkers will end up being "good" for humanity.
I'm not sure if someone actually put a hit on that actress. I think Jaqen is using that excuse to make Arya do reconnaissance and watch the play which humiliates her family. If she shows anger or her grudge, then Jaqen knows Arya isn't giving up her name and is nobody as she claims. If that makes sense.
I'm expecting largely the same. I think she wants to be a faceless man (or woman), but she can't leave right and wrong behind. This is the question. I could see her overcoming the Waif at some point, but Jaqen? And what of the other members? Anybody could be a faceless man, which makes it a difficult thing to escape.
I think Jaqen will take out the waif. Waif has too many personal feelings against Arya. Jaqen will take her out as she's about to kill Arya.
I'm somewhat confused by your question. Arya is a hitman, already. That's all she wants to be really. She's already shown great interest with her previous sword teacher Syrio in going through tough training to get better. She would care more about that than the spirituality of the faceless men. Seems she would be even more excited to find that they are common hitmen.
However....Earlier in the series, when Arya freed Jaqen, he gave her three deaths. What's up with that?
If this were another show, then I could buy Jaqen's feeling for Arya getting the better of him. But not this show, in fact we don't even know if there is a "Jaqen", he did die on screen once, and announced there is no more Jaqen back in season 2. For all we know she's been working with numerous people that just wear that face to keep Arya comfortable and on the right track. Since the beginning, I figured there was no way this ends well for Arya. I think one of the faceless men is gonna end up killing her after she settles some personal scores. I'm expecting she gets in a few good kills, and then gets killed herself in the finale.
Arya doesn't really want to be a hitman, she wants to be able to kill those who have wronged her, and she went blind because she did that (though it was handled differently in the books). When Jaqen said that the price was paid, I always assumed it was with life because of what he said back then.
Not sure. I think he paid his debt already. One is the Tickler, the other is the Messenger, and the third one is a group of people so she can leave Harranhal(sp?). If anything, Arya owes him however many he killed for the 3rd wish.
