wow, that's some ignorant bs right there.
I've been kayak fishing for 15+ years. I can count with 1 hand how often this actually happened.

I'll download that app. Sounds helpful.

Didn't get to go today, as the waves and wind are still a bit high.

    Repped.

I went this past Saturday...I had to fish about 100 yards away from my honey hole. I still managed to keep 3. I could have limited out, but I lost two keepers at the kayak.

I've never heard of West Bay...I'm in Lower laguna madre on PI side.

Well, been fishing on it for about 5 years and haven't tipped once, never had one problem. With a simple paddle upgrade, it tracks fine. The only addition I made is an anchor trolley. I don't know many that limit out as often as I do, so I don't really see the need to upgrade.

I paid a few dollars for the full version app. It is really helpful for anything where you need to know the wind...cycling...beach day...fishing....well worth the few dollars.

Went out Wednesday for two hours and finally broke through that goose egg. It was perfect! Its been tough sledding here, as it's been cool, and the water temps aren't even in the 50's yet.

2lb 7 oz smallmouth, 18 inches long. Caught by just throwing a crank bait in the water and "trolling" as I paddled to another spot. Looked back and my rod was bent in half.

Never been kayaking or whitewater rafting, but they do seem fun.

Never been fishing either. I've heard it's very relaxing.

I'll make note to do all within the next couple years.

Usually, you'll do a lot more fishing than catching, but it's a great way to just turn the world off and relax. Combining it with a kayak is even more fun. It leads to even more relaxing (to me at least) because you can get to quieter, more remote places, and when you are catching, it's a bigger thrill.

I live within a mile of Lake Erie, the supposed small mouth capital of North America. Supposedly that is slightly below average for the lake. It was big to me!

Where is a good place to go white water rafting in Texas? Can someone just up and go alone and without training if they are bored this weekend?

Where you at @Falcons Talon ? Is this you? Did you drop the kayak and get with the times to catch the big fishies on unicorn floaties?

    1) Guadalupe, Devil's River, Rio Grande (Big Bend)
    2) No, you cannot just go.
    3) Really, no
    4) Talk to an outfitter, several even, in advance
    5) Pick a good time when the river is flowing
    6) If you really want whitewater, you'll have a window following heavy rain

or else you're gonna have a bad time

Getting back into kayaking after a 30-something year hiatus. looking for tips, advice, stories. For me, primarily for kayak fishing and duck hunting. My wife has had lessons and done whitewater etc but she's looking at it now for slow paddling. Did not know that pedal kayaks were even a thing until recently--which would be great on the bigger lakes where we are. Working on training the dogs at the moment on an Old Town predator mx

Crocodile surfing is a lot more exciting. Google that Aussie and then head to the swamp. There will be white water.
