Morey, WE NEED i very good players and three good players. + Harden , if we are to keep up with the NBA leaders,Y
You know, no one wants to address the real reason we have sucked for so long..... It's Toyota's fault!! That damn Toyota logo all over the place and that massive arena has screwed us. When we were in the Compaq Center, we were kickin' everyone's ass. Just sayin'.
Rockets were the 4th seed and the 2nd seed the two previous years. There was no "8th, 9th, or 10th" seed.
Agreed. Like many other posters here, I have wondered if a team could ever win a championship with Harden as their best player. Does he care enough? Is he committed enough? Will he stop holding the ball and actually play some defense? But let's not take away from what he is. He is a legit superstar in today's NBA and one of the top 10 best players. You don't trade that for a draft pick player, for a player that may or may not work out in the NBA, unless Harden has given you clear evidence that he wants out and you are just trying to recoup value from him instead of losing him for nothing. It would have been nice to have traded Dwight for something instead of watching him walk... Also let's not forget all of the things said about other superstar players and their ability to win a championship....before they won a championship. LeBron wasn't clutch enough. Steph Curry wouldn't be able to stay healthy. Durant wasn't assertive enough (looks like he has a chance to change that reputation this year.) Heck, even before 1994 there were rumors that Hakeem would be traded to Miami. Winning changes everything. Will Harden win a championship with the Rockets? I hope so but I don't know. Definitely not without the right pieces around him. But That said, almost immediately people would forget about his defensive lapses or iso-tendencies.
Welcome to the board. I can agree with a lot of what you say. But, if you are going to trade Harden, you have to demand a huge haul in return. I'm talking HUGE. It has to be for multiple picks or young players in return. There are teams that have been stockpiling young talent, so there could be an opportunity to make a huge trade. But, I'm not in favor of trading Harden just to get in the top half of the lottery. It would have to be much better than that.
The Rockets right now are interested in playing like the Warriors, but want to skip over the draft and how the Warriors got to where they are as if it's meaningless. The core of the Warriors' team wasn't built thru free agents but thru the draft (Barnes, Curry, Ezeli, Green, Thompson). Now they have surpassed the Rockets while the Rockets have been in neutral for 20 years. Man, I'm hoping someday soon my team will figure it out.
Not bad enough to get high draft picks that can make a difference for the team and not good enough to reach the finals.
the new kid is so edgy and mysterious. its like he could say anything at any given time. i like that. i like that alot.
I agree we'd have to get more than just the high lottery pick. When I think of all the times Harden's been chilling on the baseline laughing it up when we're getting beaten by 12 points... I mean, leaders don't do that. You can't win with guys like that. He doesn't make any of his teammates better. Kenny, Shaq, and Barkley were clowning him on the halftime show during Game 2 of the GS series. Everyone knows this, but there are a lot who think a new coach can all of a sudden make Harden play defense and stop laughing on the sidelines during blowout losses. Top 10 player? Well, hopefully we can trade him to a team who thinks he's a superstar. Last thought....why all the Kris Dunn hate? Dude's a beast we can build around for a decade. It's not me saying Dunn gets us to the Finals next season. It's me looking at the bigger picture.
Yup. Lots of surfers, riding the wave of the Green Peen. Except for the Harden for Dunn thing, hes probably correct. Just wait til dantoni and lin make their triumphant presence known. Murrree, get it done.
