1) we don't know if this was by accident
2) cavs' jones was just suspended yesterday for striking biyombo in the groin
3) if adams had done this to green, adams' suspension would have already been announced by 10AM this morning

Agreed.

When your defense for this whole thing is, "Well, blame Russel Westbrook for his kicking and flopping... he started this whole craze anyways!" (what Green said), that's not going to go very far in the commissioner's office.

Should have just limited it to "incidental contact"...

1. exactly debatable
2. the game was already well over. its obvious there's some intent there especially after another bump after the initial incident while everyone else is just standing around relaxed. its well known jones is supposed to be some kind of "enforcer" to stick up for his teammates.
3. we don't know if that would be true or not. Each situation has its own circumstances based on everything that happened not just on the end result.

Wearing a cup just to play basketball? He's gonna throw Adam's game off.

1. you characterized it as an accident in post #918, so glad to see you've now opened to the possibility that green actually meant to kick him in the nuts
2. it's also well known green is dirty and out of control on the floor, plus he had just recently kicked adams in the nuts before this time, so there's that
3. ok, what if it was dwight that had kicked green in the nuts then? automatic 3 game suspension?

Intent doesn't matter, he did it.

The @Money23Green kick is not about judging intent. if intent doesn't matter then Tristan Thompson should be suspended for striking Lebron in the face 2 days ago and making him fall straight to the ground.

Well according to the former VP of the NBA, the guy formerly in charge of handing out these suspensions, intent does not matter.

green is another karl malone in the making (not in terms of bball playing skills).

a spoiled kid by the league for sure. but still a bad boy nonetheless.

suspend him.

Come on guys. The only unintentional thing here was Green's bad acting after kick. He rapidly looked away from Adams and then kinda didn't know how to look at him to look surprised. Baaad acting.

Yep, a kick in the nuts is auto suspension - should have been Flag 2 and kicked out last night.

yeah its not like its extremely easy to sit there and tweet an opinion from the outside.

Again if you throw intent out the window, that makes absolutely no sense and any contact that hurts a player should receive a suspension #safetyfirst

Did men's basketball just grow balls all of sudden? If intent doesn't matter an established rule should have already been in place then. Any contact to the midsection will result in an automatic suspension regardless of intention right. #safetyfirst

Of course it shouldn't matter to the NBA because there is just no way to read mind. Have to look at the effect on the other player (which is itself problematic when the other player act like he's died.. but that's another matter).

Reckless? Risk of injury? Severity? Is it even a basketball play?

Maybe he's just so used to that type of action, but doesn't look like any typical basketball move. And pretty easy to answer on the recklessness, severity and risk of injury in this case. Judge that based on other suspension where nut was involved and it's an easy decision IMO.
