And now Hinch takes Marisnick out, he gets on base twice, and he is pinch hit for. Hinch is TERRIBLE. Give the guy a real chance to see IF he can be our future cfer. Dude, is not like we are going to win a game we are losing 9 to 2 with 2 outs in the 9th. Hinch, you are TERRIBLE.
I wouldn't mind seeing Castro in the 2 hole He is getting on base a lot, and it's time to try something a lot different
But b****hing about him getting Kemp an AB vs. LHP in a game that is lost? To make sure Jake gets another at bat? Plenty of stuff to complain about when it comes to Hinch But giving Kemp an AB there isn't one of them
Basically, one month of Jake and Jed hitting over their heads catapulted the remainder of '15 and expectations for '16. Only CLE is a worse 3-sport city. If the Cavs win this year (something I hope happens), we're tied for The Worst and might be The Worst.
You're right, great job Hinch. Undermining a players confidence just when he feels like he's been the slightest bit productive.
I've seen a lot of bad posts, but not much worse than this. Altuve is having an MVP-type year so far, Correa and Springer are already good players that have yet to make the jump to great, and you don't have to be overpowering to be an "ace" pitcher. Heard of Greg Maddux? I'm not saying Keuchel is Greg Maddux, but the dude was literally unbeatable in MMP last year. A true shutdown pitcher. Look at Sonny Gray for the A's this year. Do you consider him an ace? This season sucks, and Houston sports looks so bleak after looking primed this time last year. That is why both the Rockets and Astros wasting huge opportunities last year was such a big deal. But 98% of the squad is not inept. We need to be underdogs again. That is when Houston seems to thrive.
K has 3 years of 5 plus era and 2 of ERA's under 3. One thing is for sure about K is that he is inconsistent.
Who said great job Hinch? And he had ONE hit today, bringing his average to .116. So that is undermining his confidence? Sheesh
All Marisnick needs is about 100 more regular AB's... It's the only thing holding him back from being at least a .150 hitter.... (And no, I'm not being serious... But I would guess that Marisnick fans and DMo fans have a ton in common).
'They've just beat the hell out of us' http://www.chron.com/sports/astros/...pposition-results-in-recent-slump-7938945.php
Hinch is such an egghead. Oh, they're just beating us. LOL There's a time to be an egghead and there's a time to light a fire under your team.
If Astros management thinks the year is a lost cause, as you do, then the last thing they should (and will) do is put Devenski/Feliz in the rotation right now as you are asking for. 1) Those guys are on an innings limit for the year, so no need and run that limit up early on 2) Guys like Fister, Fiers and even Feldman should be given starts, if they think the season is a lost cause. You would want one or more of those guys to build some trade value so you could flip them into assets at the trade deadline. Then, once the deadline passes and you move some of those guys, you would move guys like Feliz and Devenski into the rotation. Actually though, you have been saying for a long time they should be "developing" Feliz into a reliever, and now that they are you are calling them out for not developing him as a starter? Reality is, Feliz and Devenski are more likely to make an impact in the pen, when the organization decides the year is a lost cause, they will likely make sure the veterans have a rotation spot to build trade value, and when the deadline passes guys like Musgrove/Paulino would be more likely to have a rotation spot. Those guys, along with Martes, are more likely to be rotation answers
As much as I want to see young guys and change ... The last thing the Astros need to do is rush guys up . Moran wasn't exactly lighting the world on fire and now he doesn't get to play everyday. Bergman need at least another few months in the minors to make sure his production isn't a fluke and to make sure he can have some success at the MLB level . The pitchers are perhaps the most fragile of goods and many a young pitcher has been ruined by overuse . There's not a lot we can do . I'd like to see kuechel get shut down for a few weeks and give his starts to either devenski or feliz , but pitching hasn't really been a problem recently.
Great post We have a lot of high upside prospects, but most of them aren't knocking on the door really hard right now. If we were sitting at .500 it would be easier to ask for Bregman to come up right now and see if he could make a legitimate difference. But where we are right now, patience unfortunately is the best answer for the young guys
