Yeah but come on, he's not opting in...but anyway, let's assume he's opting out...how possible is a scenario where we sign three max players? Is there a single chance that if we put ourselves in the position to sign three guys to form a big 4 team they'll be ok in taking a small paycut to make it work without gutting the roster?

    Let's say they're ok in taking a 20x instead of a 25?

    Conley 20
    Durant 20
    Horford 20
    Harden 18

that's a total of 78, add Capela, Beasley and we're at 81 if i'm not wrong, still 11 millions of cap space...for Llull and one/two decent bench guys shouldn't be enough?

Is this scenario too much of a dream?

    Capela
    Horford
    Durant
    Harden
    Conley

    Zaza
    Beasley
    Jerebko (MLE)
    Gentile (BAE)
    Llull

plus a couple of vet min...

I don't doubt that he thinks he is gone this Summer, but from a fan perspective we know he's under contract till 2019, and Morey won't move him if the deal isn't right.

That being said, in exit interviews after they were eliminated, Morey probably was pretty clear with everyone except for Harden that prepare for the roster to see major change. We love you but don't take it personally when your traded this Summer.

So players like Bev, Ariza, and Brewer have had several weeks to have that sink in and are probably preparing themselves and their families to be on the move this summer/fall.

So this isn't shocking at all to hear him say although he has no control over that at all and as fans we have to assume this is the roster we have to judge the team by. Can't make assumptions.

I've been burned before by insiders on this board (my own fault), but I can certainly see Bev already aware of his departure. Especially if a draft pick is involved.

Bev was actually playing all right down the stretch, but if his 6 million dollars off of the books clears the way for someone better for this team, so be it.

Milwaukee would be a good fit for both he and Dwight (should they also move out Greg Monroe; I'm not bashing him, but he isn't a fit there), especially if the de facto point guard there is Greek Freak, as the Bucks organization indicated. And MCW isn't the solution either, being constantly injured.

Anyway, 'tis the offseason. We'll see when we see.

Looks good on paper. But putting aside the cap for a moment, that team doesn't have as much defense and rebounding as this year's team. Oh they may score 6 points a game more that this year's team. But they're going to give up 6+ more points than this year's team did too.

Fair enough, even if i think this year's team was (aside from the chemistry issues) already on decline between Dwight and Ariza gettin old, not a solid player at the 4 for most of the season, Harden playing bad...and again, this without all the chemistry issues which for sure played a big part in this collapse...i think a new/fresh start will automatically give us a boost on both sides.

Beverley is a poor starter, but great off the bench. Think his value low as an asset to the Rockets unless we bring him off the bench, but his court value is still decent for a non contending team. Certainly won't run your offense, but adds some energy and defensive commitment off the bench.

Not surprised that he would be gone. I like Bev. He's one of the few who actually gave a damn. He's not the smartest player and doesn't have the talent to be a good starter. I hope we keep him as a back up.

These guys are going to maximize their contracts. 0% chance a guy like Durant leaves money on the table.

Durant will sign a 1 year deal with the Thunder this offseason.

"Hey Pat, big Rockets fan. Nice to meet you. How are you and the Rockets doing?"

It'd be awesome to dream about, but... Durant is going to take the max he can get here or anywhere, or as others have mentioned stay at OKC even for 1 year deal.

And depending how well OKC holds up to GSWs there's a chance he doesn't even consider leaving OKC (so at minimum one year deal is the most likely). OKCs roster is way ahead of the Rockets dumpster fire. And their coach situation is a lot better (currently) . Brooks would have probably lost that series to the Spurs.

Houston would have probably had a lot better shot if.. OKC had lost like they were supposed to (or as expected), to the Spurs.

Don't get me wrong though, that roster would be great, a lot better than any team we've had recently.
