Here is the issue: Is the problem that Donald said these things..or that they worked? Politicians say things all the time, not because they believe them, or even that they intend to do them, but because they know saying it will resonate with the voters and get (or keep) them elected. We the voters encourage this, voting for those that resonate with us (cognitive dissonance).

So, is the problem that Donald is saying these things, or that they seem to resonate strongly with enough voters to get him elected? I think it is the latter...and that he wouldn't be saying them if they weren't working.

I think you can already see this in action. Such statements aren't going to work well in the general election, so he is retracting or rephrasing many of them. Which opens up another issue, that of consistency, but politicians have managed that one for forever. If we demanded consistency from our politicians, most of them wouldn't be in office. Cognitive dissonance again. We'll put up with about anything from someone we think is part of our group...and not tolerate any of the same from someone who we think is not. You can see this in pretty much every political discussion, here and anywhere else.

When you use this type of language, you have to own the impression it gives you as a leader.

In any case, the guy doesn't pay taxes and is afraid to release his returns because he knows the stir that it will cause when they find out this $10 billion dollar guy pays less in taxes than illegal immigrants.

good question. I didnt care that Donald said/did the things that he did because i would have simply not voted for him. Its the fact he got more support for doing those things. I am no longer a republican because of this. Quite disgusted to be frank. I would of preferred a contested convention to take him out that way. I do believe that there is a big chunk of republicans who do not believe in his ideals but looks like everyone just bent over. To your point he is toning it down more but that will not sway my vote. I prefer to have to vote for a democrat than to support someone so evil.

It is this kind of nonsense that has made a lot of criticism about Donald ring hollow. There was an article on ntyimes the other day about Donald that wasn't a hit piece, and the top comments were all angry SJWs admonishing the NYT for not calling him a racist misogynist bigot the entire article. This strategy has failed MISERABLY thus far and it's not going to suddenly start working. All you do when you use ridiculous hyperbole is to entrench the supporters of Trump. The anti-Trump brigade seems ignorant of this reality.

Evil...hahahahahah! You anti-Trump people are priceless. Lighten up.

My guess is that he doesn't want to release his tax returns because they will show that he is not as rich as he pretends. He's rich, but nowhere close to $10 billion rich.

NBC Tweet: Donald Trump says at NRA event that "we're getting rid of gun free zones."

Good. Campus carry will be here soon. Gun free zones have been a joke for decades.

Yeah, I wouldn't want to feel safe from insane people anywhere in America. Good.

I especially need my piece in the university bathroom in case I need to pop a cap in a tranny for looking at me funny.

Who cares what he says? He's on every side of every issue. He's been a liberal almost his entire life and has supported gun bans every step of the way, can you really believe anything he says at all? You might as well be talking about something Bernie Madoff said about a good investment tip.

Being in "gun free zones" doesn't make you safe, it just means you are a soft target for anyone who wants to hurt people and not face a lot of opposition.

Maybe both - Real Estate developers are able to avoid a lot of taxes, plus I am sure he has offshore accounts which would create a lot of controversy.

What we need to keep asking ourselves is: what does the rest of the world think of Donald Trump?

Especially Austrailia, where your "gay panic defense" is still a 100% legit legal defense.

See? Yup. Guns everywhere and in every stall, just like toilet paper. Drop a load and then unload if need be.

That's why there's all those guns murders at MMP every year. Gun free zones never work, especially when there are no guns.

Bobby's right. America is plagued by ridiculous #s of gun homicides and even more gun injuries b/c gun free zones. Don't see gun free zones in countries w low rates of gun homicide do u?

Being in a gun free zone didn't help those murdered in that movie theater during the Dark Knight Rises in 2012, being in a gun free zone didn't help those murdered during the shooting at that community college last year, being in a gun free zone didn't help those kids at Columbine or Sandy Hook.

Shockingly enough, people who plan to go on shooting sprees don't really care if there's a law against bringing a gun into a "gun free zone" or anywhere else that it's prohibited. They look for soft targets where they can do max damage and gun free zones are a pretty good place to start. The foolish illusion of safety leads to more people with their guard down and you are less likely to have significant opposition from civilians.

Anyway, I know you probably can't follow this line of logic as it's over your head and I assume anyone with a fully functioning brain already realizes the obviousness of what I'm saying so I'll stop here.

Once we eliminate stupid gun free zones and issue mandatory open carry: total safety and zero gun related casualties. You'll see.

I know. Tons of shooting sprees at Minute Maid Park. I mean 20,000 soft targets every day and a gun free zone? Recipe for disaster.

Oh B-Bob, my naive friend. If America were a complete gun free zone then gun crime would soar to unimaginable levels. Just thank your lucky stars for the NRA.

That's not a soft target at all, there's tons of police around there and they all have guns. So yeah, a "gun free zone" can be somewhat safe if you have dozens of armed police around the building and inside the building including armed police on horseback and scores of non-police security.....

I mean the ONLY reason that hasn't been attacked yet clearly has to be because it's a gun free zone.

I know, you're doing the best you can, it's just sad.

Remember when arming the pilots was going to cause them all to go insane and murder all their passengers?
