She should be paid more she is a much bigger star than either of those guys. She has an Oscar and she has headlined bigger movies than them.

However, I think its time to reboot. I think 3 movies is enough with one cast.

Does anyone else think that JLaw needs to slow down her career? It feels like she is in every other movie that comes out at this point. I'm sick of her and her sh_t. Lord knows we don't need any more of her "down to Earth...I'm just a regular girl" interviews.

But equal pay and stuff. Or does that not apply when women make more than men?

Count me in with the "tired of JLaw's Mystique" group. She shouldn't be such a central character.

I don't have any deep seat issue with JLaw but like people have said, Mystique was never the central point of an XMen story, at least from the cartoons I grew up with.

I've never read any comic stories on XMen, so I can't speak to that.....

I don't see any reason for her to slow herself down. She can be in entertaining movies. As such, I don't see her as the problem when a movie sucks or isn't entertaining. I blame the producers, directors, and writers. For the X-men movies, I blame the money guys that are trying to capitalize on her fame, but don't realize that a good movie would make more than a JLaw-centric movie.

I think the reason people have an issue with her is that it seems like she forced this on the studio. She wanted to be the central character and they gave in. Blame the studio for caving and blame her for pushing it. I know they are after the hunger games fan demo by making "X-Men: Mockingjay" by it's a great way to lose the fanbase they already had.

That said, they don't care, the movie will make a ton of cash and that's what matters to them.

The next installment will be X-Men: Mockingjay Mystique.

Comments like this strike me as so bizarre. What does some actor's career choices or interview styles have to do with you? Why do you care how many movies she does? Really, it's remarkably easy to avoid any piece of entertainment you want.

And if the argument is that she's ruining your precious childhood by "adulterating" your comic book:

    1) Nobody's seen it yet, so you may be getting worked up over nothing. Sure, she commanded more screen time and less blue makeup, but maybe it's still an awesome movie... you don't know.

    2) Get over it. If we all survived the Lucas Prequels intact, a little XMen *****ery is nothing.

Overexposure is going to happen until people get tired of seeing her movies. She can still be a phenomenal actress in some roles and is clearly a cash cow. If I was in her position, I'd ride that gravy train as long as I could until people were sick of me.

Calm down. I'm not making that big a deal out of it. It was just a comment. I also don't read comics...so I don't give a f**k about that or X-men. She's established in X-men. If the trend in Hollywood is Jlaw is perfect in every role, then fine. I'm sure there are other actresses than can do the same parts and probably better. As other people said, eventually...maybe she will overplay her hand and be overexposed. In my mind, she has already reached that point. That's not to say I won't watch films with her in it. Just an opinion. I don't need you giving me a bunch of crap for saying my two cents. Just say you disagree.

I like like JLaw, hate the Mystique character.

With that said, generally, the movies and actions of actors shape their value. See McConaughey's career, or what happened to Tom Cruise immediately post-crazy.

Actually a lot of people have seen it, and according to Rotten Tomatoes it sucks (51% actually down from 55% a few days ago).

As for surviving Lucas' prequels, um just because one movie series sucked doesn't mean it's okay for another one. What are you even talking about?

I remember when Will Smith was making it he was in all the movies. Same for Denzel. You'd see 3 or 4 Denzel movies in a single year. Then a couple more the year after. When an actor is starting to make it big, the recipe seems to have them shoved down your throat until you get sick of them. Like I think Denzel Washington is an amazing actor but after four of five movies of him in a short span and all the commercials showing the movies, I got sick of him. He started doing less roles, came back and now that he's not overexposed I really like watching his roles. Even the movies that came out in consecutive order where I got sick of him. I think it's probably a similar sentiment with JLaw. Great actress, but she's shoved down your throat with a bunch of recent films.

Daniel Day Lewis is different in many respects. He kind of falls off the face of the earth after doing a film for a few years then comes back.

I mention the prequels because it's one of the most glaring examples of people very, very upset at someone tinkering with a story that's been an important part of their childhood. Patton Oswalt's "George Lucas raped my childhood" bit comes to mind... as does the hand-wringing about the Ghostbusters reboot.

Did the prequels suck? Absolutely. Do they ruin Episodes 4-7 for me? Not in the slightest. Nor does female Ghostbusters ruin Murray and Aykroyd. Nor does "center of the story, not wearing blue" Mystique ruin my feelings for my comic books or Saturday morning cartoon episodes. The franchise survived Brett Ratner... it can survive this.

I guess overall, I was making a comment about how it seems that people get way too worked up over this stuff. As mad as you are about Apocolype right now (and the prequels back then), you'll forget about it soon after. My comment obviously missed the mark though and I didn't make myself very clear. Totally my bad there.

    Surfguy, you're 100% right... I made a mountain out of a molehill. I apologize.

Of course the world will keep turning, but if the internet isn't for voicing your distaste about a stupid film -- then what is it for?

Just got back from seeing it.

Was ok, nothing spectacular, but not a complete mess. Although it was very messy and disorganised, mainly because of all the characters and exposition that was needed. It just didn't have the same feel as First Class or Days of Future Past.

As for Jennifer Lawrence, I didn't have anything against her, but I'm also not a die-hard comic book fan. Yeah, she has a big part, but it didn't seem forced. Loved the Magneto bits, especially
    backstory/family stuff.

Well, if you were an actor (especially a relatively young one, like JLaw), wouldn't you want to be in everything, ever? It's the same, really, with respect to a college graduate entering the workforce - if there's a chance to make more money while increasing your notoriety, you'd probably want to take that chance.

It shows that she could handle blockbuster movies (XMen, Hunger Games), Oscar bait (Joy, SL Playbook) and other niche movies.

I don't think Hollywood will get an overexposure of JLaw; most of the negativity in this thread doesn't even stem from an overexposure of JLaw - rather, people are hating on the amount of screentime Mystique gets (and rightfully so!)

It's actually a better movie than I thought it would be judging by the trailer alone. I liked Days of Future Past better but I ended up liking this movie enough to where I don't have too many complaints....probably because I went in expecting to hate it.
