Is there any reason to believe he wouldn't run some sort of uptempo offense like we currently run and like the owner wants us to continue running?

I barely know anything about Silas, but I'd be so so so so much more excited about him than MDA.

For one, crushing an interview/interviews has to be a great thing. Granted, I have no clue what kind of interviews they're running. Maybe its just seeing if he can get along with Les... which wouldn't be helpful. Hopefully, they are serious interviews that get REALLY REALLY deep into concepts, ideas, thoughts, analytics, plays, offense, defense, players, scouting, rotations, timeouts, hack-a-shaq, fouling when up by three in the final seconds, etc, etc, etc. Yes, some of those are in the weeds type questions, but whomever the hire is, you're going to give the dude multi-millions a year... you need to have a great feel for how they feel about the entirety of the game.

For two, everything you've read... everything, is that he has great relationships with the players. Notwithstanding a highly respected authoritarian coach - Thibs, Coach K, Pops - whom aren't in the running, I think James & Co. need more of a coach/leader of the Kerr variety. Clearly the leader, but also clearly a great relationship guy.

For three, the dude isn't Pringles.

    Case closed

    Agree.

J.B. Bickerstaff was once a Stephen Silas: highly thought of assistant who could/would probably be a head coach one day.

Indiana's offense was awful. A lot of people here were comparing JVG and Vogel because of their defensive philosophy. I am just saying there is no guarantee the team will succeed without knowing the next year's roster. We desperately need shooters and players who can dribble the damn ball.

It is the unknown that makes him intriguing. The one thing that we do know is the players and coaches abound respect the hell out of him and that a very good defensive coach would be coming in as the lead assistant.

Hollins though. That's the part of the equation that calms the nerves in this area.

But the big difference is he'd be a fresh face and would have Hollins as his backup and support. JBB had Chris Finch.

    Good response. I'll buy that.

Since it became obvious JBB was on his way out, I've been hoping we'd bring in some fresh blood as opposed to just another NBA retread like MDA, Van Gundy, etc. You're betting on the future as opposed to the past, and having Hollins sitting next to him on the bench hedges that bet.

Maybe Morey said to him what he should have said during the interview with Les just to make his chances higher

This may be fools gold. Silas sounds great but may end up being just another Morey patsy. He is too green.I'm not sure a brand spanking new head coach would be given enough trust and operating room from the fo. But hey I guess we'll see.
