    When the Rockets are bad, they're a distant 3rd in terms of interest amongst the other sports teams.

    They were still having crowds of 9-10,000 a game during the first championship season.

    Houston can be a terrible basketball town if it wants to....and if Les wants to return to those dark ages by influencing important coaching decisions on his personal preference, that's his problem.

    Unless James Harden is Curry-like, we need a coach that can manage and have a team committed to defense. D'Antoni probably hires Nash as one of his assistants which may draw some FA PGs. We really need a committed coach, not a rental coach or a coach that needs restoration. My spousa just got slapped.

    Based on what? When he had a great offensive team in Phoenix with Nash, Barbosa, Stoudemire, Marion, Joe Johnson, and Quentin Richardson? That was, what, 10 years ago?

    They had a bad defense then. D'Antoni's other head coaching stops (New York and LA) have been jokes. His reputation as a great offensive coach is from a decade ago when he had a team stacked of great offensive players. The NBA has changed between then and now and nothing I have seen from D'Antoni as a head coach recently would make me think he is "a really good coach"- especially when looking at the deficiencies that our team needs to address.
