Didn't Durant say coaches matter a lot? You want to chase him with D'Antoni?!

I'm honestly more pissed about the fact that Les is calling the shots and not Morey than I am with the actual hiring. At least with D'Antoni, we'll actually be running a structured offense and not pick up ball.

This is actually hilarious. Could not have gone the more opposite route, but that's exactly what Les is gonna do. He wants that up-tempo offense, and it's always been about selling seats than winning for him.

I get that, I really do. That's why I say we should just wait and see what happens--you're saying that too. But I don't think the original poster I responded to was saying that, I only saw doom-and-gloom prognostication from him re MDA. Nor do I think this is what you were originally driving at in interpreting that poster's point. But I think you and I agree on Harden's importance in going forward, which I'm not sure DonKnock was acknowledging originally:

I'm very disappointed we didn't go with JVG + Battier or Vogel.

It is not entirely true that Mike is a loser but he is a weak coach, a weak minded leader

He needed someone like Curry or Nash

This is an odd comment. The Rockets organization has been a top 5 NBA team over the last 25+ years. Few teams have put up playoff caliber teams as consistently as the Rockets.

True, they (too) often are not contending but we've only been a candidate for a #1 lottery ping pong ball once in 3 decades.

The reason is Les is willing to spend big to get good players. Unlike many teams that get good players in the draft (after a supper crappy year) and then let that player walk in 4 years (totally unlike the Rockets).

Rockets are frustrating, but are no where close to being bottom dwellers. Despite your opinion of MikeD, I'm sure we'll make the playoffs again next season. Will we contend is another question.

If the Rockets dealt Harden before the end of this upcoming season, it would have to mean they were in full tank mode. Which I'd be fine with should management decide that's their best course of action(and provided of course they get close to equal value in return). But you let things play out first before doing something that drastic.

I do not mind Dwight not signing but Mike D'antoni is just not the way to go.

You got to right this ship, fire Mike ASAP when things go south and really go for the risky but talented assistant coach (not JBB obviously)

Ok I get that and I agree with you, but we just came off a very bad season when expcetations were so high after the previous year. The Kings have not been good since Webber and White Chocolate days, loooong ago. They have a very disfunctional star player that is holding the entire organization back. We dont have that situation here. We have a C that is past his prime and not being a true #2 option on the floor. This team was built with that in mind and it has not worked. Now we can move on and get a new system in and new players. Yes MDA is not known for his defense which seemed to be our issue, but its already been said his staff will be a defensive staff to help with that part of the game.

To me I see it as a new beginning. A chance to do it better. MDA is a very good offensive coach. Creative in that area. We should get better ball movement in his system. First thing we gotta do though to change things, is get better players on the roster. That will change the culture of this team.

They should interview or ask Phil Jackson if he's interested for an interview before locking in on Pringles.

From all the info I've gathered, Mike is very highly regarded by many coaches.

We are NOT a Top 5 NBA organization over the last quarter century. The Spurs have been better. The Lakers have been better. Same with the Heat(since Riley took over 21 years ago). The Sonics were pretty solid in the 90's and then after a few bad years turned things around quickly after moving to OKC. The Pacers have been consistently better. The Celtics aside from a bad stretch in the mid-to-late 90's have been better. The Bulls have been better.

You get the picture. The Rockets had very good 5 year stretch from 1993-97 where they were in at least the 2nd round every season and won 2 consecutive titles. Les had almost nothing to do with that period aside from the Drexler and Barkley trades. It's been almost entirely downhill since then. In the last 19 seasons, we've been in the lottery 8 times, the 8th seed 3 times, and the 7th seed once. We've been out of the first round only twice and to the WCF only once. 3 playoff series victories in 19 years. That is not a good NBA franchise in that timeframe.
